I must say that I agree with those folks who noted the somewhat sloppy play, and the numerous penalties. 3 items to note however :

1. A win is a win, and is more meaningful on the road.

2. Only game two of a twelve game schedule. If the team displayed the same above mentioned play/penalties in game 10, 11, or 12 I would have definite concerns.

3. UIW threw for 351 yards, but ran for only 68 in their 45 - 24 loss to SDSU. Our secondary will indeed be tested, as well our entire defense. I believe we had some starters out on defense, and played well notably the second half.

In comparison, SDSU utilized a balanced attack throwing for 285, and running for 233. If Mr. Williams and the O-line continues to improve, we should be able to move the ball and score as well vs a Southland conference opponent.

GO DAWGS!!!

Well that UIW stat is scary since our pass D appears to be the weakness in our D.

Unfortunately, we saw what happened against BYU from the secondary perspective. The Governors also had open receivers and we were very fortunate a receiver laid the ball down. Good for SIU on capitalizing on that fumble. Good teams do that. However, the real test for this secondary will come against IWU. They will go after these guys until SIU can prove that it can cover. I sure hope improvement is coming. Otherwise, it will be a long day. Go Dawgs.
