As shitty as the DJ news is, Hunter Simmons is a capable backup that battled with him all camp. Also gives us a chance to see what he can do in games to determine whether or not he should be the guy next year. Only problem is the Dawgs are beyond thin at QB now so Simmons has to stay healthy or this season will go sideways fast.

DJ still has one more year after this (same as Simmons), assuming things go well for Simmons, it could be another battle next year.
I’m terrified at this point if Simmons gets hurt. Who the hell do they have as an emergency backup? Hill has to be careful with the QB run game. Wrap that man in bubble wrap.

He can redshirt if he plays 4 games or less…not sure if he redshirted at Murray.
I’m confident Simmons can step up and do the job. Dawgs Football mentioned on Twitter X that DJ is looking at 4 to 6 weeks out. Biggest concern now is depth. Not a good idea just having two QBs available for 4 to 6 weeks.
GA Lindauer took scout team reps this week so maybe he’s the emergency guy?
Not sure about the redshirt rules but he medical redshirted in 2022 at Murray. Got hurt the first game. Last year he was a redshirt sophomore. In 2021 he was the OVC Freshman of the Year.
