@siu-grad-87 what exactly would make you happy? That's a great road win against a very good team.

great is a stretch, but i’ll take it
I get what people are saying when they say we should just be happy we won the game. It was a very important game and the win will look good on our resume. However people still have every right to be annoyed with how sloppy we played. Honestly, the game should not have been close. I think some posters are just tired of us being so inconsistent. It's been the last what, four years now? This team has enough talent to hang around with the South Dakota States but not playing like last night we won't.
@siu-grad-87 No fluke ending if you play hard good things happen play to the whistle was it a fluke we had 2 lost fumbles ourselves
Great comeback win for SIU after a crappy first half on offense. It puts the Salukis in the drivers seat for a playoff bid. They have 5 games with "lower division" MVFC teams (vs. MoState, at Murray St., at Western, vs. So. Dakota, vs. ISUblue) and then take their chances with 3 "upper division" teams (at Youngstown, vs. the Bunnies at Homecoming, at the FargoDome).
Yes, A GREAT win! Two in a row on the road in tough environments. True, the first half was terrible, but the W is what matters.
Congrats coaches and team.
Go Dawgs!
March on triumphantly!
Okay I had overnight to decompress and recover from that game.
As bad as the offense was in the first half, they were equally good in the second half. Baker was a man possessed…and the receivers/TEs were making plays! I don’t think Baker throwing 51 times is a long term recipe for success, but the game dictated that. Showed a lot of resilience and somehow managed to overcome our turnover issues. Our continued special teams woes are really concerning.Burke’s XP kicks come off so low it’s a wonder they don’t get blocked more often. We desperately need to get that figured out. It’s going to cost a game at some point.
Concerns on offense…our O-line still struggles in run block…they seem to be fine in pass pro. Need to figure something out, we can’t be that one-dimensional against the top of the MVFC and expect to win.
Defense was good again this week…giving up 25 doesn’t sound great, but they were put in a bunch of tough spots by the offense. They did give up some long drives though…have to find a way to get off the field (some of that was undone by penalties).
Overall, really happy to get the win against a really good SEMO team…they should win the OVC/Big South this year. Lots to clean up over the bye week and hopefully get some guys healthy.
Another bad loss for SIU, and whatever excitement there was for a fairly boring team, is likely gone.
Bad job coaching, bad job quarterbacking, awful mistakes, points given away for free and really stupid play calls at times.
That should cover it. Congrats to SEMO.
Cannot wait to hear Luke Martin with Hill. Words matter.
This didn't age well. 🤣
I’m very happy the Salukis won. A fluke ending doesn’t change any of the stuff I said.
Nothing fluke about stripping the ball and driving down the field and scoring a TD. If you think that second half was boring, you just don't like football. Second half the whole team came out fired up. Ro ran the ball great, Baker played great, receivers caught the ball, D harassed the H out of their QB, etc. We did have a couple of bad turnovers that killed really nice long drives.
That was some exciting stuff and a great game even though we played like kaka in the first.

It was flat out nuts. I think I held my breath between large gulps of vodka because I just didn't feel like we were going to win. You really have to give it to the boys for fighting till the end.
I was at the game last night and it will be one of the most memorable SIU FB games I've been too, both good and bad. We play like we did in the 2nd half last night and we can beat anyone! We play like we did in the 1st half and we can lose to anyone. It's football. Difference between this year and previous years is our defense. We have a very good defense this year and our offense can be very good when its clicking. We had 470 yards of offense in the 2nd half last night! 3-0 against 3 good teams (yes, Austin Peay is a solid FCS team) is a great start. You can nitpick all day, but this teams upside is higher than any team since the Hill/Kill teams.I get what people are saying when they say we should just be happy we won the game. I love this board and all of multiple personalities of the posters I tend to stay even keel through out the game and all I can say is those who still believe Nic Baker can't play at this level I am serving crow tomorrow
I have been irritated in the past during a bball game when posters come on AFTER the game (with hindsight in hand) to tease those of us who were "passionately" posting during the game. That being said, I get now where they're coming from. Reading some of the posts were cracking me up. I won't call anyone out bc I'm not the pot calling the kettle black, but still funny nonetheless. I will say this.......... we were playing a RANKED team, on the road, in a rivalry game and some fans thought it should be a cakewalk ? We knew going into the season this team wasn't supposed to be great. Think how fun it would be if this team could keep winning until they play SDST.
Go Dawgs !!!!!!!!!!!
