Javon Williams might be leaving? Hadn’t heard that, but he didn’t seem to be in there much today.
He is talented. Not sure what happened between him and Hill.
After coming out on one series today, he shook his head, jogged off the field where coach hill was talking to him and it looked like he just walked on by without acknowledging him. Something is wrong there for sure. He was too talented in the spring and to important to now be a forgotten piece of the offense.
"We've been terrible the last two weeks on fourth-and-short," Hill acknowledged. "It starts with me. We've tried it all as far as the play selection."
we've tried it all? really?
Craving a McBride Special!
I haven’t watched the game and admittedly box scores can be deceiving, but I saw an awful lot of posts complaining about QB play when we rushed for 36 yards on 31 carries and the defense gave up almost 500 yards of offense. If Baker played poorly (and from reading the board it sounds like he did), this seems like a total team stink fest.

If we lose the last two games and miss the playoffs, where does that leave SIU football?

Out of the playoffs obviously, what does that have to do with singling out one part of a very poor team effort. I’m not saying he wasn’t part of the loss, but he certainly wasn’t the only culprit. If you can’t run the ball and are one dimensional, it sure makes it a hell of a lot easier on their defense to take away the passing game.
Again, I haven’t seen the game and I may change my mind after watching (just looked at the box score), but I imagine there was poor play from a lot of the team (including the coaches…play calling has been rough the past couple games).
I don't have much to add that hasn't been said. We had a several recruits at the game, so I hope that doesn't hurt us!
To dial in more on the play calling... The fourth down plays the past two weeks have been head scratchers. Last week on one 4th down we lose 17 yards. Today on 4th and 1 we lose seven. That is alarming to me.
I asked this after the K-State game and I’m still wondering where #15 will play next year.
JW carried the ball twice today. Both of those were up the middle runs, which MOST bottled up all day. Gained 6 yards. Meanwhile Spencer carried 11 times, averaged 1.4 yds/carry, Strong and Eliott had two carries each. Most running plays were up the middle, except for a few end arounds. Disappointing play calling.
Don't ask me why he didn't get more carries. I think this is part of the problem with Hill calling the plays - gets too close to the action - seems to forget about one of his best weapons.

One or two 4th and shorts he ran Baker, one he ran Eliott. Idiotic. No Javon Williams, hardest guy on the team to bring down??

Baker's TD passes were late in the game, after we were behind three scores. He was awful today and very lucky he didn't get picked. The O line got whipped today, but even when he had time, NB missed guys that were wide open. Reminded me of Kare Lyles.
Defense sacked their QB 8 times. Spent a lot of time on the field. Time of possession: MOST 37 minutes, SIU 22 minutes.
FYI,
For their only MVC win, Youngstown beat MOST and rushed for 377 yards against them. Demeatric Crenshaw had 195yds and Jaleel McLaughlin had 156.
Would like to know how he has fell out of favor after being such a dominant force the prior seasons seems like the offensive struggles lately he could surely help
i think it is indicative of bigger problems. hope i am wrong.
Williams can’t remember the plays. Can’t remember the plays, can’t be in the game.

Concussion? Pot? BS?
@14_alumdawg is this a new problem or something else played quite a lot in previous seasons

I have no idea. That’s just what a bunch of students have said because they all hangout with the football players at the bars, parties, and the Rec center. I’m going to assume it’s a problem every year because people complained about him not playing enough last year too??? But no idea. Adds up though to why he might not be on the field every play and why they only directly hand it to him when he is in the game.
