Defense has set the tone the last two games. All levels have played great. Credit to Hill for using the short quick passing game. Our screen game and use of the TE is allowing Baker to get it out quick and has taken a lot of pressure off the Oline.  The wideouts are playmakers in space.

Well that was a pretty game! Except for the dumb a$$ penalty, we played pretty good. Great play calling. And their QB had been sacked only once before this game. Gotta hand it to the coaches and the players you guys played a helluva game today. Let's keep it going against ISU Red. I didn't listen to the TV guys, tuned into Reiss and Trude instead while I watched the video feed, but I did enjoy seeing some different commercials and not one State Farm Ad for a change!

Get the feeling the Illinois State game is gonna tell a LOT. It’ll be tough to beat MSU OR SDSU. Gotta win the ones you can, and ISU looks a little bit better than I originally thought.

and to quote mr. woodcock after the game:  "if you don't punt, you don't lose."

Hill and the offensive coaching staff deserve a lot of credit because I'm not sure there's much offensive firepower besides the Cox twins.  I'm not sure how sustainable throwing multiple touchdowns a game to the fullback is though when you face the top of the MVFC.

The offense has really made strides these last couple of weeks. Play calling and schemes have been great and we are putting the ball in the endzone more often in the redzone! Garrett is listed as a FB but rarely plays that position (we honestly don't lineup with 2 backs very often), more of a TE who plays FB than the other way around. He's also a pretty good route runner. If you go back and watch our first third down around the 50, he runs a really nice smash route and then gets some nice yards after the catch. Our first TD he ran a nice slant route and walks in the endzone...all that to say, I think you may be undervaluing his ability to some degree. It also appears that our opponents are doing the same thing!

Having said all that, I tend to agree our WR playmakers are a bit limited outside the Cox brothers. Moving Javon out there in the slot seems to be paying off, another chance to get him the ball in space and the kid can certainly make a catch in traffic. If Hartrup is able to get back this year (looking less and less likely), he'll help quite a bit but next year could be rough if some of these young guys aren't able to figure it out.

Now we need keep the foot on the gas and go kick some redturd tail.

Lots of good points in this post, and kudos to the staff for finding ways to put Garrett's skill set to great use recently.

Yes, it would be nice to get a third receiver going, as the WR depth behind Cox x2 has not shown especially well. FWIW, Hill was asked about Hartrup again today and indicated that while he's still probably at least a couple weeks away, he's hopeful he can play down the stretch. Could be a big lift if he can find his form on the fly.
