T12. Southern Illinois
SIU has elevated its football program over the last few seasons, winning a first-round game in both the spring and fall 2021 seasons. The returning experience suggests they will be right back in the playoffs this fall. To take another step forward in December, SIU needs to improve on its 25.85 points allowed per game. Its offense will be able to put plenty of points on the board with the likes of RB Javon Williams Jr., WR Avante Cox, and QB Nic Baker.
SIU/Northwestern will be at 11:00 AM Central on Sept 17
I believe we have a shot at winning this game
Looks like we've added former Illini Terry Hawthorne as cornerbacks coach:

He was at Illinois in 2021 and left for Arkansas in March

Tony Carter, who was the CB coach last year (his only year), looks to have taken a job at Florida.

It looks like that would be his 5th stop in 5 years.

Sorry meant to say in Florida…looks like he’s coaching for the Dolphins.
I was listening to one of the Dawgs Football podcasts from April after the spring game and started to look into some of the guys they mentioned.
It looks like Dorian Davis (S) is now at Towson. Too bad he transferred out. Wonder if he wanted to get closer to home.
Iverson Brown (DB) transferred in from Illinois State in May, but doesn't appear to be on the roster yet. He didn't play last season for ISU for some reason.
Any newcomers you guys are looking forward to seeing?
I'm interested in Javan Hawes WR from Arkansas State. I'm a bit worried about the receiving depth behind Cox and Hartrup so someone is going to have to step up and I think Hawes could be that player. Also, think TE Tyce Daniel has the potential to make a bigger impact in the receiving game.
