Schedule announced.

https://siusalukis.com/sports/football/schedule/2025

4 home game plus 1 bloodbath. 7 away games. Who hell makes these schedules?  Makes it tough to make the playoffs.

Home game on 8/30 against a (recently approved) D2 school, Thomas More. 2000 students - across the river from Cincy.

Bummer! I won't be there.

9/6 at Purdue. I will be there. (son-in-law is a crazy Boiler!)

9/13 at UT Martin

9/20 at SEMO

As much as i Love Saluki football, after last year's train wreck, playoffs seem impossible. I do think we stand a chance against PU and will be there too.

March on triumphantly!

Last year we were decimated by injuries at key positions (QB being the biggest). If we aren't in the playoffs or close, I think Hill's seat starts to get a bit warm. I know we lost a lot at WR to the portal, but if they were able to fortify that, I think this team should have a shot at the playoffs. That assumes DJ gets back to what he was before he got injured.

I'm one who believes that annually we seem to be void of a stud running back.  It sure seems like every school we play has at least one and until that void is corrected, our running game will continue to be mediocre.

Agree. With NH, it seems to be about passing and receivers. Javon Williams was a really good one when he had an O line. After his 1st great year of getting to play, teams keyed on him.

I think you have to go all the way back to Larry Warner, Deji Karim, Craig Turner, Whitlock, Jacobs, Abdulquadiir, Koutsos era to get those great ones. One thing about Kill, he always seemed to have really good RBs and a good offensive line.

NH will never compete with the Dakotas unless he really ups the recruiting in that area.

@siu_2011 Certainly hope SIU gets back to the playoffs and agree with the devastation of injuries at key positions last season. Also agree NH needs a good season this year. Just seems like even with the adversity, something's lacking. Discipline?

Always hoping for the best for the Salukis, of course. Playoffs would be great, just sadly skeptical.

March on triumphantly!

Not having a home game in the month of September is sad. That’s when I’m most excited for the season.

I may make the trip to Purdue and/or to SEMO, though.

I think SIU can be competitive against Purdue, although they did get a new coach this year, so it’s hard to say.

Who TF is Thomas More? No FCS school was available for the first weekend of the season and willing to travel to SIU?

OR they wanted more than SIU could afford to pay. I don't fault Hill for this. SIU HAD to have a home game given the rest of the non-con and he's constrained by operating budgets he's given. The rest of the schedule is pretty brutal so he can have one cupcake.

@saluki93 Yep - they were NAIA and just joined D2. Tiny Catholic school. We have no f'ing business playing them.

Might be hard to get an opponent on Aug. 30? NH probably wanted to get in a game before Purdue, but who wants to see Thomas More get beat by 60 pts??

We have a new RB from a JC, but Jimmy Athans, who looked promising and reminded me a bit of Koutsos, is not even listed on the previous two years rosters.

After poking around, maybe that's just a screwup because

https://siusalukis.com/sports/football/roster/jimmy-athans/9257

he shows up in the detail roster page. Wonder how many other players are ghosted.

So it's

Lester

Robinson

Wagner

Chapman (new guy)

and maybe Athans?

the last time we pulled this stunt was about 10 years ago against somebody called Taylor.  my memory is we scored on the first play of the game, beat them like 50-0, but lost a starter for the season due to an injury.
