Missouri State is going to be tough next week too. Win that and there's a good chance of winning out and finishing the season strong.
Missouri St. beat UND today and they beat us last year. Baker (and Hill) will have to do better next week.
The most disturbing thing about this game is they played this bad coming off a bye week when you should be healed up and a week of practice to clean up all of miscues that plaqued this team today 🥶

Don’t think I’ve ever heard Mike Reis use the word MAGIC so much. That’s not a good sign.
that implies we are lucky to be here, which I guess we are. 🙁
and we still could have won this game.
ughh
The D actually played well today - gave up only 285 yards. The O just made too many mistakes. Bad 2nd half.
“I don’t know how many quarterbacks come in here and throw for 300 yards”. Hill to Reis on Baker.
There isn’t an eye roll emoji big enough. Jesus H Christ.
Reis asked if Nic was off today. Hill says no - came in there and threw for 300 yds. Just 1 bad throw.
Disagree. He was off on a lot of passes. A couple of long passes skew the numbers. Doesn't take care of the ball well enough in my opinion.
another saluki football mirage. thank goodness basketball season is upon us. i don't think next week will be kind to us. our luck has run out. we may have been up to #3 but it sure never felt like we were that good. there are some phenomenal pieces but something isn't right with this group. I agree with others that it's time to do something about play calling responsibility.
Craving a McBride Special!

Missed throws, 2 bad ints, and a bad fumble. QB play has to be more consistent or we win 1 maybe 2 more games max.

Indiana State and Youngstown State are likely wins. If they can beat Missouri State, they'd head into the playoffs with a likely 3 game winning streak. I think we'd all take a 9-2 regular season.

One bad int...the ball tipped at the line you can't really do much about in his case. The fumble is tough...you need to protect the ball but his left tackle whiffed on the block and they D-End came free on his blind side. A good majority of the time when you take a hit like that not expecting it, a fumble happens.
Defense played well today. Hard-fought game in a tough atmosphere.
Nothing personal against Nic Baker. He plays hard & scrappy. But his turnovers killed us today. Getting passes batted down (or worse intercepted) has become the norm. But at this point, I think you just have to stick with him and hope the good outweighs the bad from week to week.
I guess it's no embarrassment to lose at UNI. I'm only embarrassed at Notree's behavior, the Coaching Staff's apparent inability to address or control the continuing unsportsmanlike conduct calls, and our fans who want to blame this loss on the Officials.
We have a good team, but it's been a charmed season up until today. We could just as easily be 2-5 as 5-2. But what the hell, let's win a couple more and make the playoffs.
This was a very frustrating game to watch. Like @jabman62 said, the fact that this performance came after a bye week was one of the more disappointing things.
The defense played pretty well today, got some turnovers and aside from the 2 drives to start the second half, pretty well shut them down. The offense really struggled in the redzone/near redzone. I wasn't a big fan of the play calling down there and when there was something open, it felt like we missed it (I counted at least two TDs that were missed by Baker when he just didn't come off his initial read). Easy for me to see from my point of view obviously, but nevertheless he'll want those back. I know Hill is going to defend his guy (coaches tend to do that), but this was not one of Baker's best days. I know he takes a lot of flak on here (more than I think he deserves some games), but today was not a good day.
Now's the time to see what this team is made of. They need to come out next week and get a win against a tough MSU team. They win that game, along with beating YSU and the Sycamores, we'll be in good shape for a seed in the playoffs still (not as high as we would have liked). If they come out flat, the Bears can put a beat down on them. I'm hoping for the former.
As an aside, I'm not sure why we send a guy in motion any more on the Wildcat zone reads with Javon b/c I think he's given the ball maybe once all year. I know he wants to take advantage of his opportunities when he's in, but if you are trying to keep the D honest, you have to occasionally give. That play just hasn't been as effective this year and I think that's part of the reason why.
