Every road game in this conference is hard!

Not that hard! We weren't playing Ohio St. We were flat as H and Hill started out play calling like we were playing Quincy, assuming somehow we could just run over them up the middle.

I never believed for a minute that we were the 5th best team, but that effort was just non-existent for most of the game. They just bullied us, and Hill's going for it twice on 4th and long deep in our territory just gave them a couple of scores. 7 sacks!!!  Embarrassing.

We play like this at Murray or Insu, we're liable to lose.

Salukis are just not fun to watch. Even when they were pulling games out of their butt, it was a pretty boring team.

This team could very easily have their record flipped.

I find it hard to believe, in SIX YEARS, that Hill couldn’t find ANYONE as good as Baker.

At least for me, and maybe I am alone, it is maddening to watch a tiny QB run around out there almost looking helpless at times.

I love Hill as a leader of men. I think he’s outstanding in that area. Stick to that and let a brainiac OC call the damn plays.

Again. I am sure one of the blind SIU homers will come on here and tell me how wrong I am.

Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.

After an impressive 4-0 start, one bad loss ruins everything. Our program sucks. Our QB and head coach sucks. We won’t beat anybody but Murray, WIU, and Indiana State for the rest of the year and probably not a playoff game.

This board… 🤦🏼‍♂️ lol

All of us would have gladly taken a 4-1 start before the season started. The issue is the way we lost the 1 game. If we don't get Elliott, Cox and Benefield back we are in big trouble. Without them we lack dynamic, explosive players. Also, our O and D lines have to play a lot better. If RO is out for the year, or most of the year teams will sell out for the pass and blitz us to death because they won't be afraid of the run. We need to get healthier and play better. We do that and I still think this can be a special season.

I know lineplay and the offense in general was the chief culprit yesterday, but I’ve got to say it’s been a pisspoor run of special teams play with this program over the past several years. Obviously the placekicking, but the return game has been woeful, week after week. When your offense is struggling, it’s nice to get a special teams spark once in a while and it just doesn’t happen.

Especially disappointed considering Hill rightly identified it as an area that needed to be better this year.

Nothing good to take from this game except for the Defense in the 2nd half (before the offense put them in terrible situations).

Need to get the backfield healthy and figure out the offensive line issues. 7+ sacks are not all on the o-line, but a good percentage of them are and they got their ass kicked all night pass pro or run block (I made my concerns on both lines known since spring ball).

Take it on the chin, get refocused, and come back take it out on Murray.

Not sure how anyone watched the game yesterday and came out of it thinking Baker is the reason they lost

There are some Baker haters on here that will find a way. He certainly didn’t help much, but given the circumstances, he would be down my list behind both lines and the coaches.

For whatever reason Doug Phillips has Nick’s number…but that game was poorly called on offense (not that the team gave him much help). I honestly think it was a combination of YSU playing really good and SIU playing equally bad.

Did you not expect people to be upset? We were ranked #5 and lost by 28 to an unranked team while scoring 3 points and barely gaining 100 yards. Youngstown gave up 44 points the week before. I feel like the reactions are at least somewhat justified. It's been 4 years in a row now we keep choking big opportunities to compete for the conference championship

Trust me, I’m not happy about Saturday. I’m just not as emotional as our other posters I guess lol. Go slaughter Murray like we should and we’re 2 wins away from the playoffs with 2 easy wins on the schedule.

But yea, there is a reality that we probably need to win out for a conference championship.

But yea, there is a reality that we probably need to win out for a conference Austin Peay is unranked and not getting votes championship.

Don't assume 7 wins gets us in. We just got destroyed by an unranked team that looked like a Big 10 team against us. 100 yds of offense and 7 sacks! Non-schollie Valpo had 40 yds rushing, 155 yds passing, and 14 first downs against YSU - we had 6, 94, and 8. We sure don't look like a playoff team.

8 wins gets us in for sure. We've beaten three unranked teams and a really bad FBS team. If we beat Insu, Murray, and WIU, that's three more unranked (and really bad teams).

Beating SDSU, NDSU, or USD gets us in, but we have serious problems with our O and D lines and beating any of those teams will be quite an accomplishment. I've seen them all play and they're all tough and have good lines and skill position players.

I don't blame this loss mainly on Baker, although he did not play well and caused a few of those sacks. His passing wasn't on either. The O line was just awful and Nic is fortunate he didn't end up with a concussion. They were simply dominated as if they were playing against the Chiefs. The D line also got pushed around, but I blame a couple of YSU's scores on NH unwisely giving them wonderful field position. I certainly think it's wrong to hack on Lester  or Strong - they didn't have a good block thrown for them all game.

I also agree with the poster who said we need an OC to call the plays. Been saying that for a couple of years now. Getting Ro and D'eonte back is not a magic potion either. The lines need to really improve.

The smoke and mirrors have been removed. Now we need a strong showing at Murray to get some confidence back.

Youngstown State schooled the rest of the league on how to beat the Salukis. Coaches will need to figure out adjustments because the script has been written for future games until we do.
