I’m with you SalukiWorld. Just can’t see this team scoring enough points to beat any good team. I think our defense will be fine, but our offense was bad and predictable. We couldn’t move the ball when we needed to late in games.

No Javon Williams will really hurt, but our offensive line should be better and that might mean we could actually have a running game. I expect our offense to be about as good as last year.  Really not a fan of the head coach also calling the plays.

That said, I'd really don't think we can beat South Dakota State or North Dakota State or Northern Iowa. Every other Valley team is beatable in my opinion, although winning at Youngstown State won't be easy.

We don't play Northern Iowa this year.

This is a big game, folks, if you think that SIU has a chance to be a playoff team. They'll need to win Saturday night and in two weeks in Cape. If they don't win both games, they'll probably have to win at the Fargodome or beat SDSU for Homecoming.

SEMO will be the 3rd best team on the schedule. Dawgs will have to play really good to even have a chance at Cape. This Saturday needs to be a convincing win IMO.
NIU will be a much improved team.
Hopefully we are 2-1 heading into week 4. If we come out 1-2 after week 3, I guess we can get excited about a record breaking QB.

I'll take a win week one however it comes. AP is a solid team and convincing wins week 1 are tough to come by unless you are playing a cupcake team. I'll surely take a convincing win, don't get me wrong, but they'll still need to knock the rust off...haven't played a competitive game in quite some time.

Looking forward to a good crowd and a Saluki win! 31-24 Dawgs!

It's not ideal but I don't think 1-2 is a death sentence.  I think we should expect a loss in DeKalb even though NIU sucked last year.  They get their QB Lombardi back and have been historically good.  We're also not going to sneak up on them this year with the win over Northwestern last year.

SEMO will tell us a lot about this team.  If they can go to Cape and get a win and start 2-1, this season might go better than I expect.

I agree. AP is a good team and they have a chip on their shoulder after not getting in the playoffs last season. If it’s a 1 possession game that will scare me. Lack of 3rd down conversions in the fourth quarter and bad punts were a death sentence for us.

NIU record was not good, but they were very competitive against some pretty good  football teams.

Have you all been following the content put out by the athletic department (and Learfield, I guess?) this off-season?

I’ve been loving it.

SIU hasn’t put out this kind of content since I’ve been following them. Luke Martin appears to have been a hell of a hire.
