I see your point but also for example this year we did not miss the playoffs because of those teams. We did not make it because we lost to Semo, Northern Iowa, and Youngstown State.
Maybe, but this last season we lost twice to the Dakotas. Two more victories and we are probably in. For sure in the '19 season, when we went 7-5 and lost twice to the Dakotas. We would have been in with only one more win. And think about how our reputation would differ. If we were on a four season run at making the playoffs, we would be thought of much more highly by the selection committee than what we are now. Since Nick has been HC, his overall record is 37-43. He also is only 6-10 against the Dakotas in the regular season and 1-2 in the playoffs. Total is 7-12. And we really have bad numbers against the Dakotas if you get rid of the '21 season when we were 2-0 regular season and 1-1 during the playoffs. Total then would be 4-11.
Overall record without the Dakotas is 30-31. And that W/L number flips if you speculate that you could go 7-5 and the overall record would then be a winning total of 37-36.
Get to the playoffs and hope some luck comes your way. Don't get to the playoff and it sucks to be you.
I'll take getting to the playoffs over being able to brag that we might be a bunch of losers but at least we play good teams.
