@beadmedaddio What I know may only confuse you, lol! SIU has 92 players on its roster. 5 of the top 65 are out for season with injuries. Numerous players are nursing injuries and are only healthy enough to play in games (I.E. Jacob Garrett). Even more players can practice, but can't do all the drills because of injury. This is normal for late in a season, spring or fall. I'll bet those 2 groups plus the totally out guys totals 25 this year. Active rosters for all teams are 60-65. "Active" only means players who get the most reps and are most likely to play. Teams can only take 60 players to road games, per MVFC rule. So, if you have 65 "active" and 25 are nursing some sort of injury or are out, it's hard to have a full practice. You don't put your starters versus the 80th-92nd players. For example, Javon Williams facing the 4th team DL accomplishes nothing for both. It only puts Javon at risk. And, putting Javon against the first team defense isn't smart for both sides. Rest is more key than a typical practice. Also, when coaches say "we are so banged we can't even practice," they usually mean "we don't have enough good or experienced players to practice well." Not that they literally don't have enough bodies. I hope this helps.
hey mike,
i'm struggling with this one. can you break it down for me? thanks. bob.
Adding another FBS transfer to the QB room
Wow. Between SL and Baker it seems like we’re set up pretty well there. I don’t know much about Norton other than him being pretty highly regarded.
I think Labanowitz deserves to be QB1 going into the season. Unless it’s a big time get, maybe the transfer can provide some depth in case of injuries/transfers.
It’s a pretty good get
Took a bit of digging but I figured out who the piece is. Should have a really solid QB room next fall.
Good to hear, the way QB's were getting injured this year, you can never have enough.
March on triumphantly!
