good Nick Hill interview with Reis
I don’t have time to listen. Did he talk about my new favorite Saluki Kicker Joey Spano ?

Anthony Knighton slaps SIU with an answer during a recent interview. When asked what has been his biggest failure, he replied, "Not being able to go to the college I wanted to because of not doing the best on the ACT." The guy received a free education and, I'm sure, was/has been/will be treated very well during his SIU tenure. Be respectful and polite and thank SIU or don't say anything at all. Some things are better left unsaid.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Sometimes you get FBS talent that could be at higher profile football schools but aren't for one way or another whether that's grades, discipline, or just being overlooked. I don't think it's a big shot at SIU as a whole. If SIU is able to take that talent and make the most of it on and off the field, it means the football program is doing their job.
@salukiworld You’re correct. But you’re not speaking to my point. I’ve read and written scouting reports at both the high school and college levels. I’ve dealt with many recruiters. I guarantee that the one answer about his biggest mistake will be used for years against SIU. It’ll be taken out of context. It’ll be presented as a four year starter and all conference player regretted his time at SIU. Is this how you want to feel at the end of your four years? That’s why I said it’s better to not have said anything.

In the end, he still chose SIU and spent 4 years here. If a basketball player said this, I'd probably have a different opinion but I think this comes with the territory when it comes to being an FCS school and I don't think SIU is recruiting against anyone that's in a different boat than them when it comes to this. And if they are using it to recruit against them, SIU can point out Jeremy Chinn chose to spend 4 great years here and was a 2nd round pick in the NFL Draft.
"Not being able to go to the college I wanted to because of not doing the best on the ACT." Don't the majority of SIU enrollees believe this. ACT 30 = U of I, ACT 24 = SIU.

Last time I looked, the average ACT for Illinois fresh. was around 27, SIU fresh. 24 (which is probably as high or higher than other state schools). That does not mean Illinois wouldn't/doesn't accept athletes with far lowers ACTs. They do.
I too think that was a s h i t t y thing for Knighton to say. Maybe he wanted to go to Vanderbilt, where the ACT requirements may be a bit higher, but if he was eligible at SIU, he was also eligible at many, many FBS schools.
He was an All-Area selection in high school. I seriously doubt he tons of offers from FBS schools. Maybe just trying to puff himself up?
Sioux Falls writer picks SIU 7th. I think he's full of it!
