2-QB systems can work and work well. Don Shula used it at Miami, Urban Meyer at Florida, Sam Straub and Matt DeSommer, Kare Lyles and Stone Labanawitz ( 😀 ) , etc. Of course the QBs probably need to complement each other rather than just be carbon copies.

Select packages maybe but settle on 1 qb let him be the guy instills confidence in the team and better for team continuity

One qb is a pocket passer.  The other is a dual.  Thought process is to make the other team have to spend precious limited practice time preparing for both.

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Seems like if there is ever a year for the O-line to be a clear strength of the team, which has not been the case much over the years, this would be the season. If so, hopefully they get the QB play to take advantage and also can run the ball to take pressure off whoever wins that job.

@valleyfb still look like the QB position is Simmon’s to lose?

Edit…side note looks like E.T. Harris just has surgery. Down to just 3 QBs on the roster…at least for a little while.

@siu_2011 growing a little concerned with QB position. I could see DJ getting the nod week 1. Looks like young ET is out and Simmons has missed a few practices lately.  DJ has been available entire camp.
I hope the depth in QB room doesn’t catch up to the Dawgs. Surprised we didn’t find a veteran that could fill the void left by Lindauer taking GA’s position.  Feel like we need a 3rd guy.

Oh man, hamstring again with Simmons or something new? That is kind of alarming at this point. Would suck for Simmons to lose the job just because of health issues.

I expect to see Southern be very competitive against BYU and the rest of the Valley this year. Nick Hill has shown he is more than capable of grinding it out with the best. He always has solid teams. Is that good enough? I'll let others decide that.

One thing for sure, if we don't have good QB play, we are going to have a disappointing season. Our schedule is really tough IMO, and nothing is more important than QB. Our experienced O line is a plus for QB play. Do we have a decent FG kicker, a really good punter? So many new guys and we need chemistry to be successful, chemistry that takes time to build.

I personally think our preseason ranking is optimistic. Hope I'm dead wrong!!

Thought I might fix something for you. Nothing is more important than O-line play. All of our QB’s suck with a bad O-line lol

I'll be even more specific on the O-line...they need to be good in pass block AND run block. The former typically hasn't been much of an issue, but the latter has been bad the last couple years. When you want to give your new QB some time to settle in, being able to run the football is absolutely essential. I sure hope we are able to do that this year.

Has the Luke Martin QB preview been posted yet? Quite interested in what will be discussed and shown in video clips. I would think an announcement would be coming soon on who will receive the starting nod. Guess we'll find out shortly.

GO DAWGS!!!
