Field goal unit screws up every kick within 30 yards and then hits a 50 yarder?

and now they miss from 41

Well the D has played much better today. Offense not so much. Curry is game but not accurate at all.J ust threw a bad pick. He has to realize these aren't high school players - can't be sloppy.

I’d like to see what Curry can do after the bye against a bad Indiana State team

He's quick. Not sure he's much of a passer. InSU won't be a pushover unless we get DJ and some other injured players back. As it now stands, we're pretty bad. Encouraged by the D today though.

A friend coached Curry in high school and says he has an accurate strong arm.  He played at a high level at Edwardsville.

Curry’s arm has been fine. He just needs to learn what he can and can’t get away with at this level. He will be just fine.

I assume he will improve - just his 2nd game, but he missed a wide open receiver for a TD or very long gain and missed a number of other short passes. His arm was not fine today IMO, but he wasn't Kare Lyles bad either. Several times he just made bad plays you might expect a freshman to make. Thought overall he did a decent job of running the team though and was not intimidated by the start.

But if DJW or HS don't come back, we may struggle to beat InSU, YSU, or even MSU. Don't see us beating Mo State or SDSU.

Just a thought but I believe some of the offensive problems go to lack of consistent line play but sometimes I think the play calling in some situations is suspect like today with a chance to make it a one score game on 2nd and goal we run a trick play lose yards back to the 15 set up 3rd and long defense blitzed get a sack and we miss another FG can't keep putting the offense behind the sticks

Finally able to post after the long, nearly three states away drive home.

First of all, I thought it was once again another great crowd for the Homecoming festivities, tailgate, and game. Even for a team struggling, people showed up and seemed to enjoy themselves. Football Saturday is always a beautiful site, but especially on a warm, gorgeous afternoon near the Shawnee National Forrest. SIU does it right.

Good to hear that Mr.Lindauer is back on the active roster. I believe he will take some added pressure off of Mr. Curry. Sadly, at 2-5 I doubt we see HS or DJW again this season. Broken hands and legs definitely take time and rehab moving forward. Curry has a strong arm no doubt, but a little inaccurate. He's young, he will no doubt improve over time.

We should probably redshirt DJ. He only played in 4 games and should qualify. If he comes back and plays in a 5th game he would lose his year.

is DJ eligible for a redshirt since he already had one at Murray in 2022

I would think he would qualify for a medical redshirt. Medical redshirts aren't affected by previous redshirts.

DJ played in the first three games. If he played in a 4th, that might hurt his chances at a medical redshirt.

Would be great to have him back next year, but he may not want to stay in school that long - might want to get on with his life.
