He had 2 years left at the beginning of this year so he get's to come back next year regardless. He got hurt playing in his 4th game, so that game counts.DJ played in the first three games. If he played in a 4th, that might hurt his chances at a medical redshirt.
Would be great to have him back next year, but he may not want to stay in school that long - might want to get on with his life.
Homecoming 2025 is scheduled for October 24-26 against Northern Iowa.
Keeps getting closer to Halloween.
Mark your calendars Saluki Insiders.
March on triumphantly!
I believe it was a medical redshirt as he sat out the season with a knee injuryI would think he would qualify for a medical redshirt. Medical redshirts aren't affected by previous redshirts.is DJ eligible for a redshirt since he already had one at Murray in 2022We should probably redshirt DJ. He only played in 4 games and should qualify. If he comes back and plays in a 5th game he would lose his year.Curry’s arm has been fine. He just needs to learn what he can and can’t get away with at this level. He will be just fine.
I assume he will improve - just his 2nd game, but he missed a wide open receiver for a TD or very long gain and missed a number of other short passes. His arm was not fine today IMO, but he wasn't Kare Lyles bad either. Several times he just made bad plays you might expect a freshman to make. Thought overall he did a decent job of running the team though and was not intimidated by the start.
But if DJW or HS don't come back, we may struggle to beat InSU, YSU, or even MSU. Don't see us beating Mo State or SDSU.
Finally able to post after the long, nearly three states away drive home.
First of all, I thought it was once again another great crowd for the Homecoming festivities, tailgate, and game. Even for a team struggling, people showed up and seemed to enjoy themselves. Football Saturday is always a beautiful site, but especially on a warm, gorgeous afternoon near the Shawnee National Forrest. SIU does it right.
Good to hear that Mr.Lindauer is back on the active roster. I believe he will take some added pressure off of Mr. Curry. Sadly, at 2-5 I doubt we see HS or DJW again this season. Broken hands and legs definitely take time and rehab moving forward. Curry has a strong arm no doubt, but a little inaccurate. He's young, he will no doubt improve over time.
@resaluki-88 He got hurt late against UIW, 3rd game of the year. So he could play in another game technically, but I don't think giving the NCAA any ammo is a good idea. They're infamous for head-scratching decisions.
And yes, he had a medical redshirt his 2nd year at Murray.
a player can now play in 4 regular season games, and play in up to 5 post season games, and still keep his redshirt.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
Homecoming is the last home game in month of October. That's been a university policy for several years now.
I had no problem with NDSU being the Homecoming game. If SIU was healthy and good, it could have been one of our best environments at Saluki Stadium in its history. Unfortunately we had no chance on our 4th string QB, 3rd string TE, etc.
So since DJ hasn't used his non medical redshirt he should technically be able to play in 1 more game and not lose the year. Not sure it would be worth it to risk another injury for him to just play 1 game.I believe it was a medical redshirt as he sat out the season with a knee injuryI would think he would qualify for a medical redshirt.
