Getting huge publicity today from CBS Sports:
I wouldn't be shocked if Jeremy Chinn, from Southern Illinois of all places, is the next to join them. A player you will often find projected to be selected around pick No. 150 overall or so – and in many cases barely among the top 10 safeties in what is not shaping up to be a particularly strong or deep class – is earning much higher accolades in private, among NFL personnel.
I am aware of multiple teams who have a late-first/early-second grade on him right now, coming off a stellar outing against big-time prospects in the Senior Bowl, and that may well continue to rise.
Good for Jeremy - hope he does well!
Nice article and all the best to Jeremy Chinn at the combines and the draft. I do take exception to the mention of Bart Scott being the biggest product out of this football program. Not that I have anything against Scott, but names like Jim Hart, Brandon Jacobs, Andre Herrera, Kevin House and Patriots Hall of Famer Houston Antwine did okay for themselves in pro football.

...not to mention Terry Taylor.
I was thinking the same thing about the 'biggest product' remark. I guess a running back helping the Giants win a super bowl doesn't qualify as a legit NFL player.

I also noticed that! Don't forget Carl Mauck - long NFL career. Antwine was the #3 pick in the draft!
Lionel Antoine was the #3 draft pick for the Bears. Houston Antwine was drafted by the Oilers and traded to the Patriots, where was an AFL All-Star in 1963 through 1968.
Marion Rushing (Cardinals), Amos Bullocks (had rushing records for the Dallas Cowboys).
Poorly researched article, at least when it comes to the SIU football program history.

Chinn and the safeties are about to do the 40 and on-field drills on NFL Network
Hey, I just watched Jeremy at the combine. Wow!!! Great. Only a couple other players were close to him. His measurables were second to none and his performance in the drills was equally as good. I wouldn't be surprised if he moves up to the second round.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Jeremy is getting a ton of rave reviews on Twitter from scouts

NFL combine winners:
16. Jeremy Chinn, S, Southern Illinois: The Football Championship Subdivision star made waves with his measurements, as he registered a 4.45-second 40, 41-inch vertical and 11-6 broad jump at 6-3 and 221 pounds. Chinn is a developmental prospect who will require patience as he improves his recognition and anticipation, but his athletic package is one teams will gamble on.
