Pretty typical.....

I see a scenario where we play this one game, upset Kansas, the season is cancelled because of Covid outbreaks everywhere, and we win the mythical FCS National Championship ranked #1!!!
The Big 12 is considering various scheduling proposals. I read having 1 non-conference game is high on the list of the options being considered. If that is the way they go:
The Kansas home game against Boston College is probably out, because BC is in the ACC which is allowing just one non-conference IN-STATE game last I knew.
Kansas also has an away non-conf game at Coastal Carolina. I would think they would want a home game instead.
I have to think the home SIU game is still on, barring any Covid-19 outbreaks on either team(, which is eminently possible unfortunately).

Dear Jayhawks,
One month from today, we plan to kick-off the 2020 football season at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium vs. Southern Illinois on August 29th. While there are many unknowns relative to the COVID-19 pandemic on many levels, I wanted to share an update with you on where things currently stand within Kansas Athletics.
First, after consultation with our medical advisors and University leadership, we made the decision to fill our opening created by New Hampshire’s game cancellation with a regional opponent in Southern Illinois. We decided to play the game a week earlier in the season for both health and safety reasons, as well as competitive reasons. Without going into great detail, moving the game up a week put us into official fall camp one week earlier, which allows us to be in a controlled environment (as much as reasonably possible) and gives us a better chance of being healthy for the first game. This would also provide us a week off between our opening game and our Big 12 Conference game against Baylor, which again, would make it more likely we would be able to enter the second game healthy. blah blah blah..
"The Big 12 has reached a decision regarding its 2020 football schedule.
According to multiple reports, the conference decided Monday after a Board of Directors meeting that it will move forward with a 10-game football season that includes nine conference games and one non-conference game."
Since Boston College can only play one non-conference game - at home or against an in-state rival - that game will be cancelled.
Kansas can play either SIU at home or at Coastal Carolina. I assume the SIU game is still on.

I assume all this conversation is pointless as there’s not a chance in hell that Saluki football takes the field this fall.
Sounds like the SIU game is most likely because the Big 12 is requiring the non-con game to be played at home (the Coastal Carolina game is a road game). So unless Kansas finds someone else, it should be SIU assuming it'll be played.
Welp, that's not good:
"The Big 12 Board of Directors announced the decision to alter the conference football schedule due to the effects of COVID-19, reformatting to 10 total games for each member institution – nine conference games and one non-conference game. Kansas will announce the updated football schedule when it is finalized.
The Big 12 said the start of Conference play will be solidified in the coming weeks, with an anticipated start sometime between mid- to late-September, with the expectation that non-conference games are contested prior to beginning league games."
If their non-conf has to come first, I think the SIU game is still on.
Kansas has a 9/12 game against Baylor. They will have 9/19 and 9/26 open (assuming BC cancelled and they won't play at Coastal Carolina). They could move the Baylor game to 9/26, assuming Baylor will drop non-conf game against La. Tech on the 26th. Baylor already has a non-conf game on 9/19.
If Kansas plays Baylor on 9/12, they could still play SIU on the 26th - not likely.
if they play this game, it will most likely be on 9/12.
Certainly possibile! Southern has the 12th open and Kansas can move the Baylor game to the 26th if Baylor cancels their La. Tech. game on the 26th. Baylor is already playing non-conf UIW on the 19th. Since they can only play one non-conf, the La. Tech. game is probably cancelled.
