Of course, NDSU is the No. 1 pick over a bad Arizona program. Heck, the Bison may be favored.

I think Southern has a puncher's chance vs. Northwestern.

Afraid you guys are underestimating Northwestern quite a bit.

This is a competitive Big Ten program. They had bad season last year, but they’re two years removed from a 7-2 finish and B1G West championship, and in the past, Fitzgerald typically rebounds in a big way following a down year.

Given the questions SIU has on defense, I’m not too optimistic that SIU even keeps this one close.

Espn's computer picked Northwestern 13th in the Big 10 only ahead of Rutgers a couple weeks ago. They have holes everywhere and don't look to improve on a bad 2021. SIU almost beat a much, much better K State team last year. SIU will have a great secondary and very deep, talented linebackers. We have good, deep talent at running back and outstanding WR's & TE. Our D line is definitely a question mark, but we did add some experienced pieces and it looked good in the spring game. We definitely have at least a punchers chance and maybe more!

Guessing SIU has a good crowd at Northwestern.  Can't imagine there's much hype for this Northwestern team while SIU is playing a rare football game in the Chicago area.  I know I'm going to be there.

It wouldn't be so rare if we scheduled a HOME game in Chicago, like NIU did some years ago. They did it to increase their numbers. We could do it to avoid the Quincy type buy game and use the money for a game in Chicago  over Thanksgiving weekend when all the students are gone from Carbondale.

NU was really down last year (for them.) They beat Rutgers (Homecoming), Ohio, and Indiana St (24 - 6.) Illinois blew them out and beat them for the first time in years. I think we can absolutely beat them.

We went to the last SIU-NU game. Rained like crazy before and during the game. Only two highlights - a shifty Larry Warner TD run and a Vienna Red Hot at Mustard's Last Stand outside Dyche Stadium. Fortunately I had seats under the second level. Think we lost something like 31 - 10.
