We win this game with a dynamic qb.
We may have won with an above average QB.

And now we wait

The NDSU tv guy Reis interviewed at halftime seems to think we're in.

If they had scored that last touchdown and only lost by 7 I think they would be in the playoffs for sure. Now it is a little bit dicier, although I would be disappointed and somewhat surprised if they still do not get in.
NDSU only finished the first half without a lead once this year, today.
We played well enough to get in, just my opinion though.
Saluki Insider? I barely know her!
Hill just said Liz was gonna throw money towards a home game.
Guess that Banterra money is coming in handy. Lol!

I actually think we had enough talent to beat this NDSU team except at QB. We have to have a passing game. We have a very good rushing attack, but you need more to beat this solid NDSU defense. I think our D is pretty darn good - for the first time in years. NDSU is very strong at QB and they have a great O line and very solid D.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure we did enough to get in as the 5th team from MVC. 21 - 14 against them looks very good. 21 - 7 not near as good.

I'm liking that Liz already.

I was saying all game that I’d love to test the speed of the NDSU secondary by giving it to Cox and Lenoir on some jet sweeps and some pitches to Davis outside in space. I believe we did give it to Cox once and it went for 11 yards. We ran it with Davis between the tackles which, sure, he can get lost amongst the trees sometimes and emerge outta there for a nice gain, but I thought we became a little conservative with the play calls there just hammering it inside. And not scoring on the last drive just sucks. The QB sneak on 2nd down shouldn’t have happened. They tried to hurry the D up but I’d rather give it to a running back, just anyone who was recruited for carrying the football. C’mon committee!

Gotta get picked first!
Final stats from today's game. Lyles was only 6-10 for 70 yds and a int. We had 206 yds rushing. That's pretty dawg gone good against that defense. Need more balance. NDSU only had 392 total yds of offense. Last week they had over 700. NDSU had 22 first downs and 13 were rushing. Their OL is really good. Their QB was only 13-23 passing for 146 yds. But made 8 completions to get first downs. NDSU was clearly the better team, but Nick has really closed the gap. I hope all the silly talk about giving up on Nick is over. Even if we don't make the playoffs. I can't remember the last time I saw a team improve throughout the year as much as this team. That's all coaching.

When I imagine myself as a committee member instead of a fan, I have a hard time believing we're in.
Only one of our wins was against a team with a winning record.
We had another against a .500 team (that, to be honest, likely only managed that because of the injury to ISU's QB).
We do have the FBS win, but it was against the second-worst team in FBS. (On the other hand, we did pretty much destroy them, which is a plus.)
Of course, it could well be that other bubble teams' resumes aren't any better in terms of their victories (for the most part feasting on weaker competition). If that is the case, I think we well might be in. One thing in our favor in that scenario: I'm pretty sure our game today received a lot of scrutiny, and I think despite not scoring that TD, we had a strong showing for the reasons stated elsewhere in the thread (first time NDSU had not led at the half and holding them to 21 points).
Very much a toss-up, but I would not be surprised to be left out. And given that just six weeks ago I was expecting this season to be a disaster and playing next season with a lame-duck--or even new--coach, I'm not going to be particularly disappointed in being left out. This season has been a spectacular success when weighed against my expectations coming in.
