Fred Huff wrote a story for the Anna newspaper which said that Hill has one-season left on his contract. Does anyone know if that is correct? I find that difficult to believe given the rebuilding job he was handed.

Considering the job he has done, and his relationship with Jerry Kill, I simply can't believe he will not be extended. My gosh, we keep extending Chester Cheetos.

Has he made enough progress to get an extension? I think he has, but any extension should be small and not a big pay hike. Lest I remind you all football is a money pit as it is, and people will get upset if it gets worse, even if it is a small measure. Hill has to win to get butts in seats at this point. I expect him to make the playoffs soon.
Well, considering we got him for next to nothing anything we gave him would probably still be a small raise. I would HATE to see him not get an extension. The last thing the football program needs is more turmoil at the moment.
For what SIU could offer a new head coach you would have to get somebody with serious issues or somebody that has a major love for the program. Nobody could ever claim that Coach Hill is not passionate about SIU football so why change. He is doing a very good job even if it is not showing in the W/L percentage at the moment. I'm confident that will change this season.
I agree @footballdad. I was just surprised that nothing has been announced publicly about an extension already. ADs always say that you have to have at least two seasons left on a contract to be able to stay in the recruiting game. We have shown progress and I see no reason not to give a one or two year extension. I agree with @Fraydog and his approach.
Would be no harm in extending him at current pay. His performance to date isn't good enough for someone to hire him away so no worries about him leaving. I'm sure football is on the chopping block (like the college is) and have to keep costs low. To date, giving basketball coaches raises and extensions has reduced winning so no sense wasting extra money.

Hefferman writes that Hill is extended through 2020. Tommy Bell did it on his usual 'down-low'. What was with him. Why was he so afraid to announce his decisions? Seeing that the program Hill was left with was in shambles, there was little chance for a first year head coach to get the ship righted in only two or three years. I'm still in Hill's corner.
