Well, it was fun for a while, but the SIU offense got a bit conservative in the third quarter, and two turnovers later, this one's probably done.  Lots of positives from this effort, though.

Was that the most points SIU has ever surrendered?

Wonder if any redshirts saw action today.

I guess Hill didn't want to get Straub hurt when he took him out with behind 21-with what 6-7 minutes to go. I didn't like that--but I see his reasoning

Carry this over into the MVC.  Looks like the program is starting to make some strides.

We gave it our best shot for about 3 quarters and that was pretty good. Just ran out of gas, both physically and mentally. Boy was it hot !

Underdawg,

Looked like Straub came off the field with his left shoulder hanging down a bit at about that point of the game.  Not sure if he was injured or just a stinger, but given the situation seemed reasonable to pull him at that point.

Many good things coming out of this game.  Offense can score and create big plays.  Two games in a row where we get ground game going, which was almost nonexistent last year.  While Ole Miss rolled in scoring points it seemed that we did not have blown assignments as much as just great athleticism and almost perfect passing from their QB.  Ole Miss will score a lot of points against many teams this year in the SEC, now stopping their opponent is another story.  Also, we come out of this game whole for the most part.  Have not heard about the seriousness of the  Mixon injury, but have not heard that we have many injuries other than him.

Still to work on for this team is getting pressure on the QB.  We did not get much pressure overall and rarely made him have to hurry.  This also relates to pass coverage as we seemed to be chasing the receivers more than being in position to play the ball.  Hope we do not have a let down against SEMO with the amount of energy we expended in this game and the fact we played them tough into the 4th quarter before the wheels came off (concern of thinking we are significantly better than we really may be).  SEMO will come to play looking to get a win and we need to be ready.  Go DAWGS.

I guess Bailey just had a stinger.
