At this point, I don't play Straub or DeSommer anymore this season. There are 4 games remaining. Play all the redshirt qb's you have and see what you've got. New redshirt rule is a player can play up to 4 games in a season and not lose their redshirt.

Valid point. SIU needs to see what it has on the roster for next season. Might as well start experimenting.

Javon Williams has run some wildcat. Labanowitz got in for a few plays a while back. Don't know if they're redshirts. Baker and Reed haven't played as far as I know.
I'd like to see RB Tremayne Lee also. 1st team all-state with offers from a couple of MAC schools. Been a long time since we had a Larry Warner, Deji Karim, Arkee Whitlock, Brandon Jacobs, Tommy Koutsos, Abdulquadiir, Walter Poole, Andre Herrera. 😀
I think Javon Williams may have hit his four games and is now redshirting. I know he saw action vs. Murray, Ole Miss and SEMO. I may have missed him in another game against Youngstown, South Dakota, etc. too. I respect Hill for trying to build this team the right way with redshirts and fifth-year seniors but honestly, if he has talent here redshirting, he may not still be around to see the rewards for their redshirting in a few seasons. He might as well go all in and put the best product on the field now to try to show some progress of any sorts.
Williams has played 4. Labanowitz has played 1.
It will be interesting to see what Kill tells Hill to do here.

Was at Saturday's latest disaster and completely agree with above posts about experimenting. This season is over, so start playing any and all eligible redshirts and identify needs for Juco transfers. Would like to see at least one more win, but not expecting it. It doesn't matter anyway....

I read that interview. Sounds like an inexperienced coach playing for a short term win or two for himself rather than building for a future. I understand what he is saying but you have to look at the bigger picture here. Starting the 2019 season with completely green QB is a huge mistake when we are sitting at 1-6 on the season. What difference does it make whether we are 1-10 or 2-9?
