FCS Coaches Poll Through Games NOV. 4, 2019.
Others receiving votes: UT Martin, 60; Nicholls, 50; Southeastern Louisiana, 17; San Diego, 12; Alcorn St., 9; Sam Houston St., 8; Southern Illinois, 8;
Wow, the coaches must really hate us lol. Pretty much any independent site you look at that does their own rankings either opinion or statistics based has us ranked in the top 25 but we can't get 10 votes out of the coaches poll. Especially when UT-Martin has 60 and we smoked them
I think they're uninformed - don't know who beat who. The Stats FCS poll also has us behind UT Martin - http://www.fcs.football/cfb/story.asp?i=20191104124809719902004 .
Massey dropped us 3 spots to #18, still ahead of UT Martin, SEMO, and Youngstown though.

Coaches poll is usually handled by the media relations folks. Doubt coaches really have much say.
Coaches are the least informed people. And football coaches are the worst. They are so tunnel visioned. Their team first and then the team they play next get the bulk of their attention. And maybe they keep track of the teams is their conference. Outside of that world, they have no clue.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
NDSU, SDSU, UNI, and the Redturds are in. I think you can assume SDSU, ISU, and UNI will all have at least 8 wins - they have 7 now and at least 1 weak opponent coming up.
Assuming we win at WIU and lose to NDSU, we finish 7 - 5 and 5 - 3 with a win over an FBS teams (rated 129 of 130 FBS teams in various power rankings.)
If the committee takes 5 teams from the MVFC, we're in. Other teams in other conferences will have a say about that.
If they only take four, our playoff chances are doomed.
If we beat NDSU, we're a lock whether we beat WIU or not.
SEMO scored the last 17 pts to get by E. Kentucky, UT-Martin lost at Austin Peay, so SEMO and AP are tied for first.

A man has to dream, right? I would take this pairing with Kennesaw State, even though it's in the NDSU bracket.
March on triumphantly!
Don't forget that the Ivy League doesn't send teams to the playoffs. They have two teams in the top 25. That should improve our chances just a little.

In my experience, they for a few of their buddies and let a grad assistant fill out the rest. 😆

We are #29 in the Stats FCS poll.
We have to either upset NDSU or beat WIU And be one of 5 MVC teams in the playoffs. They did take five a couple of years ago, but I believe that's the Only time that's ever happened. Last year, they left out Indiana St, who was 5 - 3 in the MVC (but one of their 7 wins was against Quincy) - only took three from the MVC. The MVC is loaded this year - that should count for something.
College Sports Madness has Towson, The Citadel, North Dakota, Sam Houston State, McNeese as the first five out.
I think N. Dakota is in, not out.
I don't understand why Nicholls is ranked - they haven't beaten anybody!! Wouldn't surprise me to see them left out. http://www.fcs.football/cfb/teamstats.asp?report=teamhome&team=0181
Towson is ranked #20. They play W & M and Elon - need to win one of those.
N. Dakota is #26 - they were ranked before losing by three at #3 Weber St. ( makes no sense that they dropped in the rankings). Also beat Sam Houston St. They have S. Utah and N. Colo - probably win both of those.
The Citadel is getting fewer votes than us - need to beat Wofford or Chattanooga.
Sam Houston St, who is ranked ahead of us. Beat ranked Nicholls St. Lost by 4 to North Dakota. They have Northwestern St and Houston Baptist at home - they're gonna win 1 or 2 of those.
McNeese is getting a few votes. They beat #23 SE La., who is in 1st in their conference. Have to beat Lamar or Nicholls St. to be eligible.
Both of the writers from HeroSports.com have us in the playoffs. They give pretty good FCS coverage, which we all know is hard to find.

I also saw Nobowls.com had us hosting a playoff game the 1st weekend in this weeks prediction.
Hey, anybody know what it costs to host a first round playoff game this year?
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
Used to be minimum $30,000, 40K, 50K for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round games. I personally think it's BS that you have to pay to host a game. Don't understand why. I think years ago (Sambursky era) we were highly ranked and didn't host a game. (Might have been the year we got hammered at eventual champ Delaware.
We have 7 wins, first time since 2013.
Need a good showing against NDSU, which I think is very possible. We can score against anybody when JWill is in there and healthy, and our D is best it's been in years.

That was at home and Appalachian State Best Delaware for the title.
I think he’s talking about 2003 when we lost only one game and had to go to Delaware in the first round. I think you’re thinking of when we hosted Delaware in the semis in 07.

Yes. I think we were ranked #9, didn't get a home game because we didn't bid enough, had to play at Delaware who was the #1 or #2 seed. They knocked out Sambursky with a concussion, pounded us 48 - 7, and won the Championship.
In the Nick Hill era, we got upset by Joe Flacco and Delaware in the fog, 20 - 17. The ref called questionable offensive face mask penalties on our linemen twice, killing critical drives.
I listened until about the first TD and I could swear that Reis said that our D was like 6th or 7th in the conference for both yards and points.
Has our D really been that bad the past few years?
EDIT: Regarding @mr_woogers saying our D was the best it's been in years
