Our receiver gets knocked down by the defender - should have been PI - and they get an int.
Hunter Simmons in at QB
Williams has 121 yards rushing tonight.
I know we are supposed to lose this game, but man it doesn’t feel like much went right, other than DJ running the ball. He wasn’t super accurate throwing it and we can’t live on his legs all year. I-line has looked pretty poor. Not passing off blocks well on some pretty basic pressures and giving the QB and RBs nothing to work with. Clark has some work to do still (I know BYU has a solid D-line, but yeah). Time to go beat Peay.
Small sample size with Simmons but he’s never been impressive to me in garbage time
I'd feel better about this blowout if BYU was picked high in the Big 12 - picked 11th I believe, although they were expected to have a good D.
I'll be surprised if we are ranked after this. Maybe later in the year.
Hopefully we really improve next few weeks. Lots of new guys. DJ Williams is a talent. If he can get protection and our receivers can hang on to the ball, we will have a heck of an offensive weapon. Was not at all impressed with our RBs tonight. Would like to see others get a shot.
Without a lot of improvement on D and the Oline, the NDSU/SDSUs and others are going to kick our ass in the MVFC.

Agree. Last year in garbage time he seemed to throw the ball in the ground a lot. Williams can be a weapon if the passing improves.

Saluki Insider? I barely know her!
I wish Hartson, Robinson and Wagner had seen some playing time at RB last night. I'm not sure Lester is the answer. It has been pointed out he doesn't really have much burst of speed. Robinson was pretty darn good for Duquense last year as a freshman and Wagner set every high school RB record in Florida. I hope those 3 get a chance against FCS teams in the near future.
In other areas of concern we didn't get any pressure on their QB and our DB's got burned a lot. I think we'll be decent against the run this year. Our O Line didn't give our QB enough time. Hopefully they protect better against FCS defenses. I think our new kicker/punter has a chance to be pretty good if he can be more consistent. DJ Williams looked like more of the runner from his freshman year last night than last year. Maybe he is finally fully recovered from his knee injuries. If he gets more time and can get more consistent with his throws I think he can be pretty good.
Hopefully BYU is better than folks thought pre-season. If not, we are probably a lot worse than folks thought pre-season.
Didn't expect a W in Provo, but did expect a little more. Special teams (kicking) still a worry. Secondary is a very big worry. Play calling still stale and predictable.
Team hustle and enthusiasm was a positive.
Let's learn from this and get the win Saturday! Go Dawgs!
March on triumphantly!

I said before, with a new QB and many other new players, I thought we were overrated. This is a rebuilding year. I think we can be pretty good later in the season, and I think if DJW is given enough time, he can be a very good QB for us.
Hopefully the Oline can handle FCS Dlines way better than last night. Hopefully we can have a good running game besides DJW. Not sure Lester is the answer.
BYU was picked way down in the Big 12, and I don't see the talent there to tear up that league.

Wagner wasn’t dressed yesterday so not sure if we’ll see him anytime soon
Wait people actually expected us to win last night? Lol yeah wasn't gonna happen not with this much roster turnover. We'll be fine, the next 3 games are much more important than this one was ever going to be.

@salukifan32 I certainly expected them to compete. They did not. We have a year of transition to be sure and playoffs are an afterthought. Enjoy the development this year because that is about the best we can do in order to possibly make hay next season. No shame in that.
