FCS Nation Radio appreciated our win this weekend.

Is this someone that has an actual vote for the FCS poll?  When is the last time that SIU had a first place vote?  I'd like us to come in at a #2-3 ranking this week with the losses at the top.

Looks like we came in at #4. I'd say that's about right, although I have some doubts about Eastern Washington just from looking at their schedule to date.

Calvin Francis Jr. is out for the year, torn ACL. A.Cox is questionable for the UND game, but back sooner than later. B. Strong and J.Garrett still rehabbing and possibly back in early November. We are showing very good depth, as we won last Saturday without key players Caesar, Cox, Francis, Strong, Garrett, etc.

Rooting for Il St at home against NDSU (2pm start) and South Dakota on the road over UNI (5pm start) today. Would be nice to distance ourselves from NDSU and UNI in the standings.

Even though SD actually has the better resume the UNI to this point, I think UNI is the bigger threat. And, SD finishes the season with two pretty likely losses (SDSU and NDSU).

I need to look at the national picture at some point, but can't help but focus on conference in hopes for a a conference title.

Part of me still cannot believe that this program is 5-1, undefeated in FCS play, at the top of the MVFC standings and a top 5 team in the country. Like, I have to pinch myself to remind myself that this is happening - it’s been so long. Not to mention, the coaching staff is killing it on the recruiting trail too. Surely I’m not the only one expecting a few more commits after witnessing the Homecoming atmosphere.

It’s just that us SIU fans - not just Salukis fans, Southern Illinois University fans - have been through so damn much lately. Chancellors and presidents bouncing, budgets cuts, cover ups and allegations - it’s just so damn reassuring to be drawn in my something to remind us all of what good there still is around these parts. People who normally fool around in their garages or tinker with the lawn on Saturday’s are now moving their schedules around to take the family out to the games. It’s talked about in the community and around the water cooler at the workplace. This whole rise up of our football program has been the booster shot (see what I did there?) we all needed. LFG, Dawgs!

I didn’t see our basketball recruit but I saw a parade of football recruits before the game.  Perfect weather and a great crowd and they got a great game.  I imagine momentum will continue to grow.
