Dawgs will need to hit a couple trick plays for TDs and get some TO’s. The size upfront for KSU is going to present a major challenge.
Be real surprised if Deuce doesn't get "on the loose" a few times. He's done it against everybody, including Oklahoma. This will be a challenge.
They held Stanford, picked 4th in the Pac12 North, scoreless until 3 minutes left in the game. Also held them to 39 yards rushing.
We need to score some points, and I think we will.
Go Dawgs!

Their fans seem to be looking past this game: it's fairly late on Thursday night and there isn't even a game thread up on any KSU board. 😆
Here's hoping their players are overlooking is too!
(Inflammatory political snark)
Is this game televised? I have to admit I haven't been much of a football fan, but since my first cousin once removed will be throwing the football, I probably ought to start watching the games. 😎

It's just on ESPN+

I think I can get that.

SIU better protect Baker. There's no proven depth at QB. Would hate to have to do the QB shuffle again this season.

Depending on what you watch throughout the year, you’re better off getting the yearly subscription for $65 (rather than paying monthly.) Saluki Basketball and football are in season for 6 of the 12 months anyway, and you can get any oddball game as well. Plus I like my UFC every weekend. You get access to so much for nothing that’s going to break the bank.

Yeah I cancel during the basketball/football offseasons. Think the price went up this year but still worth it with most of the games on there. ESPN seems to be putting more of their articles behind the paywall too.
I really feel like the athletic department (and others) is putting way too much emphasis on this game, boosting fans' expectations and setting people up for disappointment. Seems like way more hype than the SEMO game. The depth of these good FBS teams, especially in the 2nd half, is just a huge advantage. If anybody watched UND at Utah St last night, they saw that play out. UND was buried in the 2nd half.
We are 19 1/2 point underdogs. No doubt there are a lot of FBS teams we could beat (UConn, UMass..) but I'm not sure this is one of them. I think of it as a big payday. Hope we come out of it without any major injuries and hope I'm proved wrong.
Stan Becton of NCAA.com writes, "If Baker puts on a show again, the Salukis have a chance to land the upset." https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2021-09-09/likelihood-7-ranked-fcs-teams-landing-fcs-over-fbs-upset
I've seen Vegas lines that has KSU giving 17 to 19 points. I did not see KSU beat Stanford last week. KSU must have a stout DL to keep Stanford's running game in check. If so, we'll have trouble on the ground. So Nic B will have to be on his best game.
Having said that, I'll take the points and the Dawgs.

It’s just marketing. There will be more eyeballs on us nationally today than at any point throughout the season, it’s just trying to put the Saluki name and brand out there. Nothing wrong with it, IMO. They’d be stupid if they didn’t try to take advantage. Actually, I’ll even take it one step further — I’ve always thought the marketing in the athletic department has done way too little for all sports. They should be shooting practice film, making compilations, fan videos, etc etc etc all.the.freaking.time. There’s no excuse SIU football and basketball twitter pages should come to a standstill for 3 or 4 days at a time in today’s fast paced, media driven world.
it’s not 1984 anymore, like in the Reis flashback audio clips from a non conference SIU-Northern Illinois basketball game where 8000 people show up and it sounds like damn Mardi Gras simply for, as they say, “love of the game.” You have to compete for people’s time and attention nowadays. SIU should be competing hard for that time and attention.
JMHO.
What is our $ take from tonight?
