95 days until Saluki Football opens up in San Antonio, TX vs. Incarnate Word.
Still worried about the O line and D line. Linebackers, secondary, running backs & wide receivers should all be strengths. My opinion is still out on QB. Starting a short QB who has a good arm and good escape ability, but can't see over the line to throw over the middle is still worrisome. I would love to see Lindauer be healthy enough to compete for the starting job, but he was obviously still unable to play during the spring. Not sure any of the other QB's have enough talent to supplant Baker. Also, coach Hill seems pretty set on Baker as the starter, despite his limitations.
Incarnate Word lost their big-time QB Cameron Ward to Washington State. He won the Jerry Rice Award (best FCS Freshman) during the Spring season and threw for 4,648 yards and 47 touchdowns in the Fall season.
Their head coach, Eric Morris, also left for Washington State to be offensive coordinator there.
They ended up hiring G.J. Kinne as head coach. He was co-offensive coordinator and QB coach at UCF last year and has a stint in the NFL.
Guessing Senior Kevin Yeager is their starting QB, hasn't played much but threw for 11,000 yards in high school in Central Texas. Seems like their top 2 RB's were graduate students last year so don't think we're seeing them.
Think their top WR Taylor Grimes is back though. He had 1145 yards and 15 touchdowns including 10 catches, 118 yards, 3 touchdowns in Round 1 of the playoffs.

Hero Sports had both SIU and Incarnate Word ranked 12th in their early pre-season poll published in March.

Yeah guess they have a transfer QB from Nicholls Lindsey Scott Jr. Big time rushing threat, 990 yards and 9 rushing TD's last year.

Week 1
Southern Illinois at UIW
Two playoff teams from last season, this matchup will be a fun one with plenty of offensive weapons. Again, while this is early, the result impacts perception for both teams and their conferences. If SIU beats UIW and finishes fourth or fifth in the MVFC like it’s done the last two seasons while UIW finishes first or second in the WAC-ASUN alliance, it’s another reason for the MVFC to grab several at-large bids.
If UIW beats the Salukis and SIU ends up making the playoffs, it boosts the strength of the WAC-ASUN to have multiple bids.
I think running back Pop Jones is going to do wonders for our running game this year. Can't wait.

Love the positive attitude, and agree. Jones has been waiting his turn, folks should look for big things from him. Let's get those season tickets bought, and fill up Saluki Stadium...(soon to be ? )
