Hill brought Lindauer in very late in the cycle while already having Norton signed in that same class. I just don’t think you sign a QB in May if you already have what you think is your guy. Not saying Lindauer is but I’m guessing there is a reason Hill signed him after having every QB back except Lyles. Doesn’t make since to crowd the QB room if Norton was believed he could or would have started every game if eligible. JMO.
I still think it’s SL job to lose.

Lindauer has been committed to us for at least a little while, even before the season was over. The fact that we went through 3(kinda 4) QB's shows exactly why you bring in QB talent as often as you can. What makes you think we'll have the same room back besides Lyles? Even if we did, our QB play was good this year, at best. Even at SDSU, our season ended on a bad read by SL when he didn't throw to his release valve Combs on the sidelines to stop the clock and give us a couple more chances. He's a gamer for sure, but we need a real player at the position. We had one this last season that was ineligible.
Again, love the discussion about it, but it's not really a debate. Ask around. 😎
Real player? 😮
Tough to fault SL that last desperation play when there's 12 secs left. His pass to Collins (I think) was a little high, but the receiver also mistimed his jump - could possibly have been caught. SL ended the season 72.4% and a 154 passer rating. Nic Baker wasn't far behind.
Trevor Lawrence passer rating - 169, Justin Fields - 175, Brandon Peters (Illinois) - 106, Wis. - 125, Mich - 134, Jack Plummer (Purdue) - 153, Joel Sambursky 2005 - 149 and 64%, Nick Hill 2007 - 167 and 71.5%.
It's a debate until proven otherwise by performance and real numbers, not rumor. Offers out of high school, for what it's worth (which isn't much IMO!)

Akron
Austin Peay
Dartmouth

I agree but still think SL and NB will be given opportunity to lose QB1. Norton and Lindauer on outside looking in. You can never have enough talent at a position but normally teams don’t bring in QBs if the team already has their guy in that class. It’s not uncommon to bring in a couple true frosh with idea one will be scout/walk-on QB.
That would be great .... but hard to believe. I checked out Norton's games at FIU - not that impressive on a bad team that lost all 5 games, including to FCS Jacksonville State (5 for 14 and 66yds). 25 for 52 in 5 games - 48%. Started the 1st game, his best, and went 9 for 13 against Liberty. Split time with two other QBs. Apparently started a couple of games but not the last two.
Lindauer barely played at Cincy so hard to tell, but they were a good team.
Every QB on our roster had a great HS career.
Yeah I think some may be a little too excited for Norton. His limited college tape is not very good, staring down receivers and wildly inaccurate. He's a good athlete but not a good QB at this point
SIU DE Chucky Sullivan has entered the portal as a grad transfer. Sorry to hear, as he was a good player and vocal leader for Southern. I am surprised that he will be healthy enough to play a fall season though as I thought he tore his acl late in the spring season.

If he tore his ACL in Spring season, there's no way he's playing until 2022. I assume he'll get a medical waiver.
