I see that Hangar is closing, adding to the list of Carbondale bars that have gone out of business since the early 2000s.
Where the hell are students who want to go out supposed to go now?
The first place I saw Pork and the Havana Ducks. Good times.

The key is "who want to go out."
I find myself defending "kids tuh-day" against idiotic attacks from older generations, but I'm at a loss here. They just tend to not go out.
The venue as it was reconstructed was always kind of crap: it had the dimness and grimness of the old Hangar with none of the character (?). We would occasionally meet friends there for happy hour, but I always found it vaguely depressing. Too bad.
It would be great if someone bought it, but the asking price is nuts.
Also depressing, and also with a nutso sale price: The Cellar is also for sale.
(Inflammatory political snark)
Hopefully somebody buys the place and continues to bring in live music.
