Penny's at the University Mall in Carbondale is on the list of closings.

No surprise here. They’re closing across the country. The mall owners have a lot of space to fill with Macy’s and now JC penny closing

The Penney's store where I live closed a couple of years ago and Sears had closed before that. The plan is to tear down the mall this summer. The 3 anchor stores have been closed for 2 or more years.

Bed Bath & Beyond announced they are closing 200 stores over the next two years. No lists of which ones yet. If the Carbondale one gets shut down, U Mall is gonna end up looking like the Marion mall.
