What exactly does this job entail and why is it needed?  What did the org chart for the Athletic Department look like in 1990, did this job exist then?

Don't get me wrong, I think since our AD isn't actually doing what the NCAA perceives as the job description, we should pay far less than we do and simply use an administrator.  If we're bringing him on as a near future low cost replacement for the existing AD, then I think that is wonderful.

I think this is a good hire. This guy works his tail off and is invested in this University. I understand the concerns of both of you, but operations is an essential position. It may not have been called this in the 90s, Morris, but it existed. The scope of the job has become more complex since then too. I have a feeling that more changes are coming.

If we've got to have it, then let's train him up to be a low cost AD when the current one leaves.
