Something interesting: it says he will spend his first 10 months in Carbondale, the next 7 months in Edwardsville, then move up to Springfield permanently.

SIU can ill afford any mistakes in hiring at this point. The incompetent leadership that's been in place for at least the past 15 years has seriously damaged SIU's reputation and made it largely irrelevant to many qualified high school students in the state (Illinois' government also contributed greatly to the decline in enrollment across the state).
Hopefully this guy can unify the various schools and create a vision that has a positive impact on attracting students.
If we get it wrong this time, we should turn it all over to the "e" since they seem to have a clue how to run a college.
