Rumors are swirling around that Pinch Penny may be leaving its longtime location for somewhere else. Anyone know if this is true, and where would they move?
That place is a cash cow when the students are here and it is fun to watch a Saluki game there sometimes.
There's a rumor that SIH is going to build special housing for the nursing students in SIU's new nursing program on that location.

Interesting, looking at the complex, there is room there for a building and additional space. especially with the undeveloped land behind it. Likely cheaper to buy that, than try and move houses off Chautauqua to get expansion room for the university.
Sad to see an icon move.
SIH would do the project, not SIU like you would expect.
I wonder where they would move to, hard to beat a location where you are walking distance from so much student housing

My daughter, who graduated about 10 years ago went to Pinch with a friend on Homecoming evening, said there was hardly anyone there. Sadly, a sign of the times.

Man that's sad, when a college bar within walking distance of the campus cant survive you know your college is on a seemingly terminal trajectory
Closing in December, liquor store will remain.
Heard they’ve been purchased. Some new project being built there. Don’t know anything about moving it. It actually presents a great opportunity for someone to fill the void, possibly on the strip. Wasn’t because they couldn’t survive.
I was a student at SIU when Pinch was born. It is still a favorite stop before basketball games. I’ll probably be there this evening.
I was there on homecoming evening and it was pretty crowded. Not sure what time she went.
It is sad to see pinch go, hopefully something useful goes there and not housing for SIH. How about they purchase any one of the empty residential properties and develop on that? Or tear down Southern Hills and build there? I assume Saluki/Levels will remain open?
It’s been for sale for a while.
I was there Saturday at 1:30pm. The place wasn't very busy.
Any idea what they will do with the dragon in the beer garden?
