SIU looking like anywhere between 3rd and 7th seed....

Regardless of the projected finish I will take a top 4 seed right now especially after being picked 9th pre season

Barring any major injuries to our conference rivals, SIU has virtually no chance at getting top 4 seed. This team's ceiling is 5th and more likely will finish 6th or 7th battling Murray and Belmont for those seeds after the top 4 of Ind St, Drake, Bradley and UNI.

It is absolutely possible. Yes we are all down on SIU right now, but thinking logically about this… name one game that is a bad loss so far? (Yes I know the 23 point lead was infuriating , but keep in mind it’s a loss to a top 3 team) What I mean by that is we haven’t lost to anyone lower than the possible 4 seed, and that was on the road. UNI still has to come play us here as well. 4 isn’t probable by projections but certainly within the realm of opportunity.

I just typed a whole long thing and there is just no point.

Yes, the problem is those losses, ugly as they were, was that they were home losses.
If you realistically plan to compete near the top of any decent league, you have to protect your home court.
Getting smacked by 18 against Drake is one thing, but you absolutely cannot blow a 23 point second half lead to take a second consecutive L at home.
Now a lot of low probability scenarios has to happen just for SIU to have a shot at a top 4 finish.
--Insert something witty here--
Sweeping Murray and winning at least one other game you'll be an underdog in (such as home with Indiana State or at Belmont) would be the bare minimum needed to get back in the top-four mix. And obviously no more bad losses.
I don't believe I said it was impossible, I just said there was virtually no chance.........And I stand by that. If I had to GUESS at the chances of SIU finishing in the top 4, I would put it at less than 5%. I say this not because I'm down on the staff but because I'm a numbers guy. I'll tell you what, if SIU finishes in the top 4, I will meet you in Saint Louis and pay for all your drinks. : )
SIU would have to win the UNI home game and take care of business elsewhere to even have a chance. Don’t see them passing Drake and the Trees and Bradley already took the home game so you can guarantee a sweep there.
