No, you're wrong. As Mike Reis explained it to me if you are going to not play a much higher RPI team at home, it's better to play a D-2 instead of a lower RPI D-1, Even if you win against the lower D-1 at home you will still lower your RPI, with a D-2, the game is not counted win or loss

It is judged against you even if you win.  These games only exist to pad records.

I hate to break it to you and mike but if your NCAA hopes are in a position where youre hoping for a Div II matchup at home as to not effect the RPI youre not getting a bid anyways

Please do away with D2 teams on the regular season schedule. Please.. There is no benefit whatsoever. Nobody wants to pay to see these games. A win is meaningless and if you somehow lose, everyone remembers it. IDGAF about RPI.

The success or failure of saluki basketball since the present coach arrived has been completely decided in the valley tournament. RPI has meant nothing and next year will be the same.

The fact that anyone is having this discussion shows how bad things are.

Interesting start for UNC next year

“The Tar Heels will play an exhibition game against Mount Olive (date TBA), then open the regular season at Wofford (Nov. 6) and at Elon (Nov. 9). This will mark the first time UNC has opened a season with consecutive road games since 1986-87 when the Tar Heels played at Hawai'i and Hawai'i-Loa. ”

UNC is like the one Power House school that is not afraid to go on the road and play a mid-major program. If only other ACC/B1G/SEC schools would follow suit.

Pretty sure Loyola was locked into this tournament before they got good.
