It's actually a pretty decent schedule for a first year head coach that was late to the party when it comes to scheduling. It's different then what we've been accustomed too with Hinson. 2 OVC schedule with programs that are a short trip a way is better then making trips around the entire OVC. Also, I fully expect to see more C-USA Schools on the schedule moving forward. I mean who wouldn't want a home and home with Tulane, the real ODU, and WKU?
Also, not surprised to see a bunch of HBCU on the schedule. Those schools are little more willing to travel and use non-conference schedules as a recruiting tool for their programs.

Hey, I've no issues with this schedule at all considering the overhaul that's taken place. Give this staff some ample time to work and I believe we'll be pleasantly surprised with the teams we'll see coming through the Banterra Center doors going forward, just as we've been with their ability to recruit.

Outside of the Florida tournament, I really don't have any problems with the schedule. I expect the current staff to work hard to upgrade all games next season, but still can't understand why we chose to play in the worst MTE event in the country this season. The Sunshine Slam will do more to hurt our postseason chances than help them this year and its disappointing for any MVC to miss out on this opportunity.

Post season chances this year, really ?

A team should always enter a season with postseason aspirations. It may be a challenge this year, but I feel there is a possibility there to make the NCAA or NIT tournament. However, there are no games from the Florida tourney that will enhance our resume and that’s a shame.
Good lord. Really ?
first year rebuild please take a reality check

Insane. And ridiculous.

Accordingly to Mike Reis' interview with Mullins about the schedule, the Sun Shine Slam was a an inherited tournament...

A parting gift no doubt.
It reeks of him. Though possibly a blessing in disguise.
March on triumphantly!
Just curious, when does basketball practice officially begin?

It's honestly not a terrible tournament for them. Yes the sexiness of it is not there with the tournament being at the very beginning of the season, but it's three games with teams that play at the same level at the Valley. It could of been much worse...

i live in northeast Mississippi and plan on dragging about a dozen friends and family to watch the Salukis play at Southern Miss (even though i'm pretty sure they think my SIU basketball fandom borders on mental illness). Since i work in Tennessee, will probably go to see them play at Murray State (about two hours from where i work).
What away games are y'all planning on going to?

That's what i was thinking - it will be a good measuring stick for them and by the middle of the season, it will have done us more good than harm, too.
