If you consider our game at OK St. and their game at Arizona as a pushBelmont released their non-conference schedule. They got a "buy" game at Arizona.

Oklahoma State missed the Tournament last year and were rather mediocre all year, Arizona will likely be a top 25 team all year. Drake and SEMO were the only Tournament teams SIU played last year, it really wasn't an impressive schedule at all. That being said, SIU's schedule this year is looking pretty good.
I didn't say it was impressive. I just said it was better than Belmont's schedule this year, which is pretty bad!If you consider our game at OK St. and their game at Arizona as a pushBelmont released their non-conference schedule. They got a "buy" game at Arizona.

Their MTE drags down their schedule but they do get some good mid-majors like Furman, Middle Tennessee, Georgia State, and Samford. Even Arkansas State had a good offseason and might be a sleeper team.
I think our schedule will turn out tough this year so no complaints but I wish we were playing tougher mid-majors going forward. There’s plenty of good MAC teams within reasonable distance to play
Are we not playing SEMO this year? Bryan didn't mention them when talking about the schedule in his MVC Coaches Zoom meeting today.
BTW, he's really starting to sound like a coach. His voice was incredibly gravelly for it only being in the summer time.
Dawgs traveling to Wichita Dec. 16th per their Twitter. https://twitter.com/goshockersmbb/status/1685002315311222784?s=46&t=PGYsHcUiaDfyrIewoUe49Q
hopefully it’s a home and home
Very curious about that. I have a hard time seeing Wichita giving Southern a home-and-home, but I'd also be surprised (and disappointed) if Southern took a buy game with the Shox. Hopefully that comes to light soon-sh.

I’d imagine that Wichita has more pressure to have a good non conference considering the lack of good games in their conference compared to previous years. I surely hope this is a home and home. Not the end of the world if not though in my opinion.
So with Southern Indiana and Oklahoma State still needing dates, we're waiting on SEMO and maybe K-State? Am I leaving anyone out?
That's a solid OOC schedule.
March on triumphantly!
Mullins was asked about the Wichita game in the video clip posted on social media today and didn't mention anything about a return, so seems very likely it's a buy game with the Shockers. Not a great look, IMO.

Salukis haven't been anything close to relevant in 15 years. What's the harm in taking a buy game with the opportunity to play someone better? Could always go home and home with Chicago St instead.

I get what you're saying, but if the MVC wants to give lip service to still being a top midmajor league and a conference that strives to be a multibid league in March, it's hard to justify being bought by teams from the AAC. It makes a statement about resources and investment in the program. And the fact that it's a former conference rival from the not-too-distant past makes it a little tougher to swallow.
That said, I don't doubt that Wichita has plenty of money to throw around, or that SIU needs the $. Just can't remember many instances of SIU basketball accepting buy games outside of a Power 5/6 opponent, so it's notable.

Just win it and nobody cares.
The Salukis have failed to even sniff the postseason for the past umteenth years, yet the following summer there are concerns about our schedule being too weak or questioning why we're not forcing this or that team for a return game. IF this program ever starts winning consistently again, they WILL improve their schedule. I realize it's the chicken/egg scenario but that is the reality.
