UIC adds Jordan Mason from Texas State. The Flames are looking good
@salukiworld was he the kid that was on campus here with Sykes or was that someone else?

Yes, I thought we had a good chance at Mason, not sure what happened there. Not sure what the plan at point guard is now. Maybe they think that point guard is already on the roster?

Feels like an awfully big gamble. I think they sign at least one more PG with some experience, for competition if nothing else. Sharp is the only true PG on the roster and I can't imagine they feel comfortable with that, even if they feel okay with using someone like Mayo at times in that role.
There is more to the story. I think we are good.
After everything this staff has done so far, I would be really surprised if, as dogdays alludes to, they don't have someone ready, willing and able to take over the PG role. I'm anxious but not worried........................yet. LOL

So, we didn't really want this kid or we think we already have our starting PG? Do you know something the rest of us don't? I spoke with someone inside the program today who told me recruiting has slowed to a halt.
Hopefully a quality point guard is added to the mix before guys show up for summer classes in a couple weeks. It would be unfortunate to come this far with the roster-building and enter the season with big questions at that position.
What, if anything, they do with the second remaining opening is less pressing.
I still firmly believe SIU is gunning for a home-run at PG. The new coaching staff is experienced and well-aware of the talent they've assembled. They know the right add at PG may very well be the key to a championship roster next season. I'm totally okay with this process taking as long as it takes to get the right guy to come in and lead the team.

I’m with you on that, just hope the “add” is still out there.I still firmly believe SIU is gunning for a home-run at PG. I would take a double or a triple but would not turn down a HR. If they find someone who distributes well, is athletic enough to fit Nagy’s tempo, can keep opponents honest shooting from 3 and plays decent defense, I’d call it a big win at this stage.

I'm positive they're still out there. Still plenty of options from many different avenues. Don't write off anyone you'd typically think would be beyond our reach either would be my advice. With NIL backing and the current roster construction, this is a golden egg situation for a talented point guard.
