The team Muila plays for doesn't even have a Wikipedia page.

i think it's been mentioned on here before but it bear repeating.  Utah St returned ZERO starters from last year.  They essentially did a near full rebuild and yet are playing in the 2nd round of the NCAA.  It is NOT easy, but it can be done.  The portal taketh but it also giveth.

It is winning the lottery.  I don’t buy lottery tickets I go to work everyday!

When a coach has 5 starters leave, they can either quit and whine, blame the NIL and portal, etc. like so many on here do, OR you can "man up", adapt to the current environment, make adjustments and do your best to succeed.

You have had enough to drink today.  Put away the keyboard.  Out of roughly 350 D-1 programs you are using an anomaly as an example.  I paid attention at SIU and know that decisions in life or a division 1 basketball program should be made on the basis of anomalies.

Come on all you need to do is “man up”. I wish someone would have told Mullins that we would be in the tournament!

Perhaps you should pay more attention to your wording in your posts vs casting insults young man.  🤣

I was talking about the posters on this site, not Mullins.  He never complained, whined or made excuses re: NIL or portal.  He just wasn't able to get the program to the next level, but he did it with class !!!

@spike

I think the people who like Hensley recognized that he was playing out of position. Mullins used him as a 5, and he was not a 5. It was ridiculous to see him having to guard true big men; I suspect he didn't sign up for that.

With proper roster management, he could have been a great "get" as a role player. Instead, he averaged more minutes than Ebube, mostly at the 5.

And that is why we are here in this mess.

He was not used properly; he is not a terrible player.

Yeah of course he didn’t…at least not publicly. No amount of “manning up” is going to get us consistently to the top of the MVC unless we start funding it that way. Look at Indiana State for your best case scenario 3 years with a top notch coach and then he’s gone (they didn’t even get an NCAA birth out of it, they should have). Oh and you don’t hit the lottery every hire.

If you want consistency like a Drake or to a lesser extent Bradley, there is a reason they are at or towards the top…they fund their programs that way. It allows you to attract top coaches and talent and keep them.

I don’t know how “young” I am.  I saw Kenny Perry play at the ARENA, Johnny Fields play his second season, Steve Finely get moved from center to left for Doug Shields, and serve Kai beers.

This is an SIU fan board, so accusing someone on a Sunday of being over served is more a term of endearment than and insult. Carry on about your day of excusing g the administration.😂😂😂

Just think if Fields wouldn't of blown out his knee.  He was a super athlete.

He was really impressive this year. Wonder if he lands at WVU or elsewhere.

We need players for sure.  But I honestly won't miss seeing Brown & D'Amico in the starting line-up every night.  They were way overvalued by our Head Coach.  Troy was smart to follow Mullins to DePaul.

If the NCAA gave tournament invites to liked Coaches, Mullins likely would have been a top seed.  Unfortunately, that is not part of the selection criteria.

For sure, and how important is that in the day of the portal.
