@quatroschallengesaluki Not why we lost them.
then why did we? Ebube was telling people a week ago he was staying, then left. What changed?@quatroschallengesaluki Not why we lost them.

im guessing Nagy didn’t guarantee a staring spot and with how Mullins mismanaged him he didn’t want another potential bench spot
Howard left. Also understand that players are making demands re the NIL and the staff place a$ value on any given player. If they don’t match up then a player might go elsewhere. What was not the issue was available NIL money. What May have happened is a disagreement on value of any given player. It’s free agency and both sides have to decide where they want to play or who they want to pay and at what cost.

This post is spot on. It is exactly what is happening.

Wild times. Just hope the staff finds quality talent elsewhere that they can sign because I’m not sure it’ll be so easy to replace Ebube’s potential impact.
I FULLY understand and appreciate that NIL is critical. But it is not the end all be all. The fact that we just signed a former 4 star player from TT and then lost players to schools which most likely have less NIL, amongst other things, than SIU only adds credence to that.

FWIW, over on MVCFans SoIll24 said Ebube got 50k from Green Bay. He also said Stulic was asking for 20-40k. I think Stulic will go pro than transfer somewhere.
Pro where? The Mongolian 7th division? Lol idk if he has pro talent

NIL is THE number one thing kids are asking about. Do you not think that 4-star is getting an NIL deal? It is absolutely the end all be all right now in college recruiting. We have to be wise about how we us our dollars, but if you want a chance, it is absolutely essential.
Does this all head to 2, 3, or 4 year contracts? No other major sports league would allow open free agency.
Saluki Insider? I barely know her!

I feel like eventually it has to be a minimum of 2 years, specifically for Freshman. Eventually it could look similar to pro sports with varying years (1-4).
Ebube got $50K? Sounds like it WAS about the NIL.

If our NIL is in decent shape and we weren't willing to match 50k or better for Ebube, then the staff had to see something they weren't enamored with concerning how he fit in the picture going forward. Maybe a conditioning concern?
Strange times, and I kinda like the idea mentioned above with potential multi-year contracts for players with incentives.
--Insert something witty here--
Thing is NCAA and states have already said No to such multi-year deals. You also got to think, the player is most likely not going to want to go to a school that has a stipulation of multi-year, when others are going to offer shorter. And, who's to stop the other school from paying the "penalty" of them cutting their time short.
It also brings the question, why should an athlete be more bound to their school than a regular student taking classes? Maybe the answer is because it's what they chose.
It's also confusing because schools can't exactly offer NIL deals based on stipulation they go to a specific school lol
Lots of word vomit I know 😀
