That sucks for Drake. Going from DeVries to 1 year of McCollum is similar to us having Bruce and then getting only 1 year of Matt Painter.

While a nice thought, they were never going to stick around with the big boys calling, regardless of the amount of money we offered.

@cj1986 Close to 1000 in the first official day of the portal. My guess, for what it's worth, is wait a day or two, then target potential transfers. Last year there were close to 2000 in the portal.

Well, the Tyler Bey experiment was a bust. A bit of a shame because he clearly has some talent.
With Davis and Bey presumably not returning, I'd imagine at least one addition will be a wing in the 6-5 to 6-8 range who is athletic enough to defend quality scorers. That need for an athletic wing becomes even more pronounced if they end up losing Dibba (I know the hope is that he returns, but you just can't take for granted a proven scorer is going to stay in the Valley in this climate).
Count yours truly as not being a bit surprised over Massey, Sharpe, Bey or Davis leaving. It certainly seemed clear when 3 out of 4 of those players had reduced or zero playing time. I never saw Bey play, so can not comment on his ability. I do know that he seemed disengaged while on the bench, and also missed some road and home games as well as the MVC Tournament. Massey and Sharpe seem like decent kids, so I wish them well. My opinion on Davis? From my observation it was obvious he was showcasing his scoring ability. Not the best handles or passer. I get the 6'6" defender, but I do believe he is replaceable. We'll be fine there. 🙂 I must also add that at times he seemed disengaged, and/or acted like he did not want to be at SIU. Perhaps I am completely off on my observations. However, sources close to the situation knew he was leaving at the end of January so did that contribute?
