A transfer guard, preferably PG is going to get the lions share of the available NIL money for non returning players. PF would probably get the 2nd most NIL money outside of returners. The 5 position will not be a priority if we return the current bigs.I agree with everything except the Moreno sentiment. He improved greatly over the course of the year and is a real presence inside with his size. He hasn't been playing basketball for that long and will continue to improve. I think he, Aligbe and Weber would be a very decent 3 headed monster at the 5. Aligbe will continue to improve also. Aligbe has more range and can really run the floor so he is a good compliment to the back to the basket games of Weber and Moreno. With everyone coming back that we want, yes big if, I think the greatest need is at PG(1) and PF(4) positions. In today's postgame, Nagy stressed the necessity of players sticking with the program through good and bad if we are going to become successful. If we can keep Moo, Dibba, Elliott (and I'll add Bey to that list) we could be really good next year. We'll need Steffe, Aligbe, & Warren to keep developing. Mayo and Sykes can be glue players.
Those are the players I'd like to keep in a perfect scenario. Add the two incoming Freshmen and that's 11. We need a big enforcer (like Banks was against us today) and sorry, but I don't think Moreno is it. We could also use a true point guard (not Sharp) or at least a scoring combo guard.
Agree with all of this. Need PG depth at the least, assuming Elliott is back, and a competent, experienced anchor at the 5. Infuse that with a boost to three point shooting, which I'm hoping Walsh will help with, and we could be looking at a big turnaround.
Lots of ifs, but I still believe SIU and its basketball program has lots to offer comparatively, so I'm hopeful.
I like Moreno and he will be better next year. Can't coach big!
The bigs situation will be interesting. I expect Webber to stay and play after his redshirt year. Aligbe and Moreno both showed enough to where I’d assume they’d be welcome back, and I think both have some upside, but in this portal era, who knows if one or both might transfer to be closer to home or for whatever other reason.
And even if all three return, I’m not convinced the staff would be totally sold on any as a surefire starter at a position Nagy really values, so who knows if they try to invest big dollars in a transfer big — probably a longshot but if they have a relationship with the right guy … ?
@resaluki-88 this stream, and it ALL the posters, have dissed Steffe since he transferred. Bey doesn’t seem to have put in the work together on the floor. Early, it seemed Nagy was listening to the ‘advice.’ Then, it seems a) he got a chance to get minutes and b) showed he is a reliable 3pt shooter and a tenacious defender, which the stream at least started seeing a weakness. He was a 4 star recruit, but you consider an unproven Bey critical. What gives?
All the posters haven’t been down on Steffe, admittedly it took him awhile to adjust and get going. I think some were hoping for more sooner for sure. I also think most of those calling him out early have given him praise since his emergence about halfway through the season. Looking forward to him taking another step forward next year, see him on the most improved team!
I haven't dissed Steffe or praised Bey. In fact I've been applauding Steffe's improvement and saying he is a key part of our team moving forward. Not sure what you're reading regarding MY posts..@resaluki-88 this stream, and it ALL the posters, have dissed Steffe since he transferred. @resaluki-88 my mistake. I misread the string and it wasn’t your, but it did call retaining Steffe critical. I’m a rookie and screwed up.
I thought Steffe improved a ton in the second half of the season on both ends. He’s gonna be a good player

Who has been down on Steffe? I hope he stays and I bet the majority of posters agree. What have you been reading?
I don’t know if Steffe can be all-conference player but I think he can be a good Valley starter that plays the role of agitator on defense and can knock down 3’s. An added bonus is his Dad’s connections to Texas high school basketball.
I think Steffe can turn into a player we thought we might get out of Trent Brown and didn’t really see until year 5
Trent was just a shooter on offense, Steffe is a shooter but can also score in other ways including getting to the basket. At 6'5" he brings a lot more to the table than Brown did and I liked Trent as a person and player. He's not quite as good a defender as Trent was, but hopefully he will get there. Steffe was a horrible defender at the beginning of the year, but again improved dramatically as the season went on.I don’t know if Steffe can be all-conference player but I think he can be a good Valley starter that plays the role of agitator on defense and can knock down 3’s. Any news on Elliot? i believe he could have been a huge difference maker. Maybe a top 4 conference finish if we have him.
Rumblings/rumors out on Facebook about a 6 figure offer for a player on the current roster. You have to believe that’s Kennard, but no names put forward in the post.
I was just informed by a trusted source that the freshman kid from Italy who plays for Evansville has been purchased by Auburn for $500 grand. It now takes a minimum contribution of a million dollars just to be considered as a new season ticket holder at Auburn. I intentionally said purchased because it’s no longer a sport, it’s a meat market. NIL has made a farce of college basketball. Why should a good player be a team player now, rather than build his resumé and market value by scoring every point that he can? Many of these kids are going to be in for a rude awakening when they graduate, thinking they are set for life after being paid hundreds of thousands in college, not really focusing on their education, only to have reality smack them in the face in the real world. The NCAA should be ashamed of themselves.
The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.

Surprisingly, I heard a rumor about what is probably this same thing. I didn’t hear a dollar amount, but I did hear a school.
I like Kennard, but him commanding over a million is insane.
Even if SIU were to be able to come close to that amount for him, I’m not sure they should.
6 figures would be $100,000 to be fair, not in the million range
