Hate to disagree, but we have little to no proven inside scoring depth. We have heighth but if we get Prince only he has scored at a consistent level and that was 8 pts a gm. We may see a lot of improvement but it’s a big ? at this point.

This is true and probably why Southern will likely be preseason picked midpack instead of higher.

The way I see it, though, assuming health, the 5 is really the only spot with significant uncertainty at this point, and there are enough options there with good size (most of whom have been in the program and had some time to develop) that I’m pretty confident the coaching staff will get reasonable production out of the position. You have to think at least one of those guys will make a nice jump. At least that should be the case.

Moreno improved dramatically in the last part of the season. He displayed some very good post moves, rebounded well and rim protected in the minutes he played. He was a plus defender in his limited minutes. Conditioning will be key for him. Remember, he hasn't been playing basketball that long. Rolyns Aligbe also has a huge upside at the 5. He is super athletic and can run the floor well. If he can improve his post moves, and improve his defense he has great potential. I look for him to take a big step forward through summer workouts and fall practice. I'm not expecting big things out of Webber so any contribution will be a bonus. He certainly has the size to be a factor if his skill level improves.

I would not be surprised to see an Aligbe-Aligbe frontline a fair amount. Could be fun.

Prince’s arrival also may allow Pikaar to play some 5 as you’d still have a physical frontline presence in Aligbe and then Pikaar could be the stretch the floor big. I could see that combo working at times even though Pikaar is not a prototypical 5.

All the options also means Southern shouldn’t have to worry too much about foul trouble with plenty of post depth available.

It's all on paper and speculation as we observe it here in mid-May. Appreciate all of the Insider analysis.

Also like this roster and hoping they can buy into a cohesive scoring/defensive/winning team. There was some hype last year and the team stumbled, but the loss of your best player/leading scorer very early, had to be a major bummer for a new team and new coaching staff.

No idea what his team can produce, but I do feel a helluva lot better than I did last year at this time. Should be interesting come November.

Go Dawgs!

March on triumphantly!
