I hope there's a pivot from Finlinson. There's a lot of good names still out there and this team desperately needs more scoring. Stafford would help but that's still not nearly enough to come close to competing in a conference that's gotten a lot better this portal season. Right now to me, this looks like a major rebuilding year.

This shows 7 players leaving for SIU so it's not just portal players. It must be including Hensley and the 6 portal entries. Still shows we lost a lot.
Not sure how a team like Drake wouldn't be #1 on this list. Seems kind of random.

Finlinson was a big miss especially with Loury already committed elsewhere.
Unfortunately, I think this is the new norm for mid-majors. Until they put some sort of salary cap and add contracts/buyouts for these guys, we’ll be replacing our top scorers, year after year. We just don’t have the NIL budget to keep a core group together for more than a year if we are successful.
With Davis reportedly getting around $1M we will never compete with power conference team budgets. If the rules don't change you will indeed lose pretty much all your most productive players every year. 4 years ago I would be thrilled with our 3 incoming HS freshman. However, when you lose most of your production and don't bring in instant impact players you are in big trouble. Unless we sign big time scorers with our remaining openings we are in big trouble next year. If Walsh and Haynes are productive next year as true freshman it will be very hard keeping them and if you indeed do keep them it will take a big bite out of your NIL budget.I hope there's a pivot from Finlinson. agreed. It looks worse than it is. Davis and Dibba were our major producers; the production numbers are basically from Dibba Davis and Hensley. The other 4 leaving is a non-factor in regards to production.
Haynes is official:

Can’t believe we couldn’t sign a single one of those dudes we brought in for visits. Kinda why I don’t believe we even have a shot at Stafford. It’s rather sad we couldn’t pull that off at all.
Every NCAA player should be given a flat living fee based on sport and year. It would be the same for Duke as it is for Lamar. And NIL should have a cap of around $5,000 a year and it should actually require an appearance or use of their likeness. Not "come play here and we will give you money and call it NIL".
Recruiting is looking good for years 3 and 4 of the Nagy era, if the rug isn't pulled out from them. Right now we are bottom half in the valley. The fact that a player like Davis can get 1 million to play for BYU says it all. Good player but I would have never guessed he was a million dollar player. SIU can never keep up with that, every year they will lose the best players to the portal if the rules do not change
I have been on the side of Let's Chill The F Out about the gap between the coaches' tweets and information about who the signees are, and I still maintain it doesn't matter, but it has gotten a bit weird now, like four days after the initial hubbub. Hopefully these new players move more quickly on the court than they do in their commitment announcements. 😆
@siudawgs imagine Bradley coach doing that tweet for a kid who averaged 0 points their fan base would riot
The SalukiTalk/SalukiNation/SalukiInsider/EgyptianProBoard disciples are not mentally strong enough to handle the portal/social media era yet.

Haha. In fairness, it's a pretty madness-inducing era.

haha yes. I am only like half kidding. In a world of instant gratification everywhere, patience is hard. I understand people’s frustration because I comeback here and refresh every 15 minutes for news. However, my expectations for our program are, sadly, pretty low in this new world of college basketball and our recent history so I’m hoping and praying for the best but knowing the worst is a possibility.
