Does anyone know if he is injured? I noticed that he hadn't played the last 2 games and he had been receiving decent minutes prior to then. Hoping all is well with Mr. Cook.

I was wondering the same, but couldn't find any injury news on him on th Zag forums.

All I see is non-specific "leg injury". he was seen going through warmups January 8 before the BYU game, but did not play.

He played 11 minutes in their 116-88 blowout against Portland on Saturday.
I honestly don't get what he's doing there even before the injury. I guess the opportunity to win a Championship, which might very well happen this year for Gonzaga, trumps getting a starting role and 30+ minutes a game which I think he could have done at a Big Ten school.

Yeah, I agree. I’m assuming he could use a 6th year or eligibility given the Covid “this year doesn’t count” and come back next season too, right? If so, I wonder if he will go back there or end up somewhere else again. I feel like his stock won’t be as high entering the transfer portal if so, and roster space and class balance will be weird with incoming recruitments joining seniors who opt to come back again. Or, he probably could still go cash a check overseas somewhere.

I was surprised he went with the Zags...I didn't even know he was Australian.

Both St. Marys and Gonzaga were bidding for his services after he passed a quiz on The Croc Hunter with flying colors! LOL
G'day Mate!
Mike Reis talked with Aaron Cook:

Been fun watching him play for Gonzaga, they are insanely good. Very happy for him
Not only has it been fun watching him play at Gonzaga, but the Southern Illinois Salukis get at least one mention on those nationally televised games of the #1 ranked team in NCAA basketball each time Cook enters the ballgame. That is invaluable publicity for SIU in name recognition and recruiting on a national stage like Aaron Cook is performing on.
1) Cook
2) Jones
3) Domask
4) D'Avanzo
5) Muila
Yep, that would've been pretty good, Reis!
The guy's gone! He was a decent guard but not great - certainly not as good as some players that left our program. Not worth discussing IMO.
I have a hard time comprehending folks who like to poo-poo or take shots at Aaron
Cook because he is no longer with SIU. He left on good terms and transferred to the undefeated, #1 ranked team in the country for f#*cks sake! Also, it's not like he is the last man on the bench for the Zags. He is their 6th man, plays 15 minutes a game, scores 5 pts a game, averages 2 dimes and 1 steal. To minimize his talent is also short sided. He is a very good defender, passer, ball handler and floor leader. He has great athleticism in case you missed his 2 spectacular back to back facial dunks on sportscenter's top ten the other night. He was a good student who graduated on time and deserved the opportunity he was given. I do not know of many student athletes who wouldn't jump at the chance to leave a middle of the road (currently) mid major for a significant role on a team that has a great chance to win the national championship!

Then don't discuss him?

I agree. The thought of us not being a better team with him is just ignorant. When Cook got hurt last year, he was averaging 15 ppg and obviously he is a really good defender. This team could BADLY use a guy like him. We certainly wouldn't be 5-11 in the MVC with him added to the mix.
I don't know about you guys, but I'd hate to have a guy that scores 15ppg and draws interest from teams like Gonzaga...
I wish Cook the best at Gonzaga. He got an awesome opportunity!
