Wonders with 2 3's in a short span. He has 8 points and seems to be gaining some confidence.
Wonders with back to back 3s - hope we see that all season long
Alabama 73
SIU 64
Final
Banks and Ferguson lead scorers with 10. Rupert leads in assists with 4. Seems like SIU finished strong against likely the best team they'll see all year.
Lost by 9, glad to see Southern storm back. Wonders came alive, and for Ferguson to come from D2 and drop 10 points efficiently against an SEC contender is pretty impressive.
Need way way more production down low, but content with the result.
Nice to see them fight back at the end
More confused with our frontcourt after this one. Hornecker does seem like a redshirt candidate now based on his usage. Also not sure if Muila is hurt or just out of the rotation. Rupert seemed to play well, didn't get much out of Ebube.

He's hurt, probably still the starting center when he returns.
Listened to some of this. Sounds like Alabama is athletic as hell, and that showed up on the boards and with turnovers. Marcus has struggled against length and athleticism and that might have been the case again in this one.
Rough Saluki debuts for Johnson and Newton … did Newton hobble off? Thought I heard that.
Something hopeful to build on for Banks, Ferguson and Wonders. Would love to see the latter two push older guys for minutes at the wing spots.

Again, it's an EXHIBITION but SIU got it close bc Bama called off the dogs. This could easily have been a 20pt game. I'm sure no one is happy with the outcome of this game (score aside).

Heard something about an ankle injury and he had to foul in the 2nd half. Not sure if he came out or returned to the game after that. He only played 10 minutes though.

SIU was also heavily rotating throughout the game while Alabama stuck to their top guys. I think Alabama has 1 or 2 key injuries but this will be the best team they see all year so I'm coming out of this encouraged. We'll know more about this team when they face Little Rock though.

Little Rock is 310 in Kenpom. I would hope they win by double digits at home and look dominant.
Also, Alabama is good........really good. But you would have HOPED for a game where we had a chance to win. Despite the close(r) final score, at no point did I feel we had a chance to win the game. At the same time, I have to remember this is an exhibition and perhaps Mullins didn't show his full hand. At least that's my hope right now.

To have a chance to beat a big-time opponent, you’re going to need at least one of your top guys to have a big game. Domask and Jones were both pretty quiet offensively.
Ferguson may be the sleeper on this team.
