The bad thing about this matchup is a certain segment of the fan base feels like SIU got a win today because another team lost on the road.

That’s not a good attitude.  What is a good attitude is thinking SIU is gonna beat Drake.

They almost did that twice.

I hope the SIU Arena roof doesn’t come tumbling down. Either way.

Playing hard and fighting until the end is not good enough at this point.

Bryan Mullins has gotten about $1.5 million in base salary so far.

The product isn’t good enough, the recruiting isn’t even close to good enough, and next year is gonna be tough.

But we can keep kissing a$$ because we loved him as a player.

I want to see something.  St Louis would be a good start.

And anyone who thinks I’m just some troll can kiss my ass from here to across the street.

A lot of complaining going on for a team that missed their predicted standings by one spot.  This coming during a season where no teams lost any of their players (mostly).  I’ll say it now, we are close….no need to blow it up.  All teams that finished above us, except one was more talented than us….this year. If you can’t acknowledge this year was different, that’s on you.

On the we are t going to have a crowd due to our lack of offense point.  Winning will put butts in the seats. A few tweaks this off season and we’ll be competing for a championship.  Let’s not forget, Mullins is a young coach with things to learn, if he can assess what needs to be adjusted we’ll be just fine.

Now let’s make a run at Arch Madness!

I consider myself a realist.............and try to call them like I see them.  That being said, I think the bracket favors SIU's chances.  Don't get me wrong, I am NOT predicting they are going to make it to the final, but I am saying that I feel like they can beat Drake and can certainly beat Missouri State who is prone to off nights where anyone can take them down.  It has been said often that it is difficult to beat a team 3 times in a season, especially when it's back to back games.

I had higher hopes for the team this season, but I also think we're one of the most dangerous 6th seeds that I can recall in this tourny.  If this team beats Drake, watch out........it may just be what they need to make a run.

Go Dawgs !!!!!!!!!!

I personally thought SIU matched up better against Loyola and Northern Iowa but they ended up being the top 2 teams in the conference this year in my opinion.

I don’t anticipate it but Drake is beatable, SIU almost did it twice.  KenPom has it as a 2 point spread and guessing it’ll be around that in Vegas.  Drake’s leader in possession and shots is a true freshman, who knows how DeVries will look in his first Arch Madness game.

He will look very good would be my guess.   We just got to be 3 points better.

Very difficult to beat the same team three times in one season. Some on this site want to rip on this team after a loss, and than find excuses when they win.
I like our chances on Friday. What will the excuse be after a Drake win? How will old blue spin it? Phony poster.
GO DAWGS!

@johnny-utah

After watching BM's first year as head coach, I thought he would have had this team vying for a championship by now. So I'm a little disapointed, but I love the way this team plays defense and plays hard till the game is over. I haven't seen this since Bruce Weber took over. Recruiting obviously needs to be stepped up a notch or two, and if BM can figure out the recruiting piece of the puzzle I think he can do great things for the program. My wish...I I would like BM to be Southern's coach for the next 15 years and the talking heads to be comparing him to Mark Few.

I was here in '78 when Joe Gottfried took over the program and within 3 years took it from a sweet 16 team to an 0-16 conference record. Then Allan VanWinkle took over the program and kept the program near the basement each year. So I want to see us get back to respectability, and by that I mean we are challenging for championships on a regular basis.

So, I want to give BM another two years. I remember not too long ago a few of us on this site were starting to throw in the towel on Nick Hill and wanted him out, and then everything just started to click. The optimist in me hopes the same for Bryan.

Beat Drake!

@siu83 Good post.  But Recruiting isn't as bad as you think.  In fact, it stepped up a notch or two when the previous coach was fired.  These guys work their butts off on the Recruiting Trail and keep current so much better than CLO or BH.  It's going to start paying off very soon.

bravo!

it's one thing to not approve of the coach and question his ability.

that's fair game and good for discussion.

it's another for you to post something that offends the bobber.

take that BS trash elsewhere.

It has been said often that it is difficult to beat a team 3 times in a season, especially when it's back to back games.

Go Dawgs !!!!!!!!!!

it has been said often and I appreciate the sentiment.

however the statistics don't quite work out that way.

the 3rd win for 1 team is much more likely statistically.

let's dump that stat on it's head!

we are due for one of these to shake out our way.

That's how I'm feeling. We've had enough heartbreak between this season and football. Let us have something go our way! To say we're due is the understatement of the year
