We may be able to go up saturday after SIU's friday night win. Where are Saluki fans sitting?
I think this season has been a little less than we had hoped at the start but I see a lot of positives. The first half of this game was good defensively but suffered because we weren't making any shots and were turning the ball over (9 times). Even with the turnovers if we had made some shots we would have been in decent shape. The second half was what this team is all about. Stepped up the defense, cut out most of the mistakes, didn't hang our heads and started making shots.
Overall for this season I like the way we have finished and hopefully aren't done yet. I think going into next year with pretty much everyone returning except Ben and with the fact that the two redshirts were practicing all season and getting a feel for the game speed and systems is going to really pay off. Amico is a player. He has great instincts and with his size can guard multiple positions. Banks I think really improved over the course of the season in many ways, particularly on offense. When he has a player of the same or less size he can take it to the hoop and score on a consistent basis and as he gets better from outside can be a force. I know a lot of people are saying we have to have a point guard with that last scholly but I am not so sure that is the case.
I think there has been a lot to learn from and trust BM and his staff were doing that learning all the time. I hope we have a run in St. Louis and look forward to next year.
The bad thing about this matchup is a certain segment of the fan base feels like SIU got a win today because another team lost on the road.
That’s not a good attitude. What is a good attitude is thinking SIU is gonna beat Drake.
They almost did that twice.
I hope the SIU Arena roof doesn’t come tumbling down. Either way.
Playing hard and fighting until the end is not good enough at this point.
Bryan Mullins has gotten about $1.5 million in base salary so far.
The product isn’t good enough, the recruiting isn’t even close to good enough, and next year is gonna be tough.
But we can keep kissing a$$ because we loved him as a player.
I want to see something. St Louis would be a good start.
And anyone who thinks I’m just some troll can kiss my ass from here to across the street.
You are done here, Blue. Thanks for playing.
Opinions are one thing, but the racist comments you posted in another thread won't be tolerated here.
Best post of the year. The guy was really wearing on me.

Is this post about the Drake game Friday night? Good lord, we get it you aren't satisfied with the program... A post about the Drake game might be something like this...
The status of DJ Wilkins could be a big factor here... or We really competed well with Drake this year I think we can get them... Or this is a really experienced and good Drake team, I think it is going to be tough Friday night.
Its basically the definition of trolling when you take a game topic and turn into a macro picture of how terrible this program is. If they lose Friday, they lost to a team that won an NCAAT game last year and returned a bunch of kids that shouldn't have been eligible to return.

Don't bother, he gone
I agree with most of what you said, and all of it added value. Regarding a PG, however, Banks is shooting 20% from 3pt range. That, simply put, is unacceptable. He has regressed this season statistically from last year in both overall shooting percentage and 3pt shooting (dramatically). I absolutely love his character, his D, etc. but if you're not dishing out a lot of assists (which he doesn't) you had better make up for it in scoring, like Jones does. I absolutely want this kid, and his family, on the team, but I would love to have an experienced top of the league PG next season as I feel that would really put us in the top 3 teams.
If we hit our threes, and we are the best 3-pt shooting team in the conference BTW, we can win. Drake won't make those prayer-threes they were making last game hopefully!
Make the Bulldog slobber!!!

Well I think any team would be the best 3pt shooting team in the conference if they hit their 3's lol
I would tend to agree with INSaluki regarding Banks. What I have noticed this year is teams play off of him and provide help defense as they don't see him as a scoring threat from the outside (either mid-range or three point range). If he can hit his shot a bit more consistently from the outside things will loosen up for us on the inside some. He plays hard on defense and I like his taking it inside and scoring at times too.
Banks was a pretty good outside shooter last year. Shot 40% from 3 in 40 attempts, it's all the way down to 17.9% this year in 39 attempts and 17.4% in Valley games.
His inside game has gotten better though since the season began. He's much better closer to the rim and finishing from where he was at the beginning of the season.

I like Banks, and after we add a PG for next year I still see him having a big role for us. In fact I'd go as far as to say he'll be one of the best 6th men in the conference

I was actually shocked when I saw this yesterday (conference only) - seems like we lost a lot of games cuz we couldn't shoot worth a hoot. Lance and Ben and Marcus have shot it much better late in the season.

Didn't realize we were #1. Guess that makes sense. We had a few games recently where we shot well over 50% from deep
