I don't think the refs have been a problem today. Yesterday was much worse.
Respectfully disagree. I should add, we were not winning this even if we got a fair shake the way they shot the ball today. That, turnovers, and offensive rebounds were the story. Some of those rebounds should have been fouls though.
Drake is just so dang good at taking you out of your offense. They force you to catch the ball way outside and it makes everything difficult. Since we are out, I’m routing hard for a 2 bid Valley now.
Not crazy about his play today, but anyone else not named Dibba/Steffe hasn't been able to score either.@salukimodemrowe may need David and Steffe to put up some 3 pointers, but Davis is a one man show. Doesn’t pass much and will never throw it to Steffe. Mostly just dribbles until he loses it.
I'm sure part of Drake's game plan was to hound Davis from the tipoff, and they did.

Drake not going to get an at-large, which is just bullshit.

Several years ago, we used to see many more mid-major teams earning at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament. Reliance on the RPI and other outdated metrics has been replaced by the NET, with quadrants and a heavy emphasis on strength of schedule. As a result, these mid-major teams don’t have the same opportunities as power conference programs who are regularly facing each other in league play.
That subtle change has left some great mid-major programs out of March Madness in recent years and a prime example is last season’s Indiana State squad. Josh Schertz built his reputation as a D2 head coach before taking over the Sycamores and building their best team since Larry Bird was on campus more than forty years ago. However, the Sycamores fell in the MVC Tournament and were relegated to the NIT, making it all the way to the title game.
Fast forward eleven months and we could be headed for a similar scenario in the MVC. Last year Drake pulled off that impressive win in the conference tournament and headed to the Big Dance, nearly knocking off Washington State in the first round. This season, those same Bulldogs look pretty different but find themselves in Indiana State’s shoes.

I'm hoping against hope that they could make it with four losses but realistic about the chances of that happening. At least if it's a Drake-Bradley championship game, it's an easy rooting decision, at least for me. I really respect the way Drake plays and don't like Bradley any more than most people on this board do.
well glad the team pulled some of us back in for the ride, the season could have been worse, hoping for better luck next year
it is what it is
Welp, aside from giving up 14 offensive boards, and making 15 turnovers, and watching Hensley build a house of bricks, and the Drake freshman having a career game... we had 'em right where we wanted 'em! 😉
It's quite obvious that our guys needed to play a perfect game to pull this off, and when that wasn't happening, we don't have the defense to pull off an ugly 45-43 win like the old days.
That being said, I really hope this team can stay intact and build, instead of playing another year of NIL madness where Nagy's got to create most of the roster from scratch.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your little one, Kyle!

The Boyd’s played their asses off. They left it all out on the floor.

I get the great fan support on this board. But, did anyone really expect to beat Drake? That is one talented team with a great coach. Even with the portal, SIU is behind the 8-ball. I seriously doubt we will see Davis or possibly any of our other top 2 players next year. I could be wrong; as usual. This team always fought hard to the end, but effort can only get you so far.
Coach says we Saluki fans are TOO NICE!!!! 😆
